Mitch he’d to tell from that pic but my guess is heater hoses. Do they connect to the firewall?

So I took my youngest son (13) out to change the oil in the ‘82 FJ40 this evening. While removing the oil filter we noticed these cracked hoses. This pic is from after removing and replacing the oil filter so the fluid is likely from my removal of old filter. Anyway, can anyone tell me what these hoses are for and how easy/difficult they are to change? Thanks in advance cruiser heads! 2F

Mitch

that funny looking thing attached to the block is the mechanical fuel pump. those 2 lines are the gas inlet from the tank and the return line back to tank.
most likely the fuel line is OK, what you are seeing is a covering over the fuel line. the cracks are nothing to worry about. if you look at the line at high noon in your pic you will see the smaller fuel line where it attaches to the pump, it is a smaller diameter than the larger cracked covering.
final answer is nothing to worry about

I made my ac work by replacing the tensioner pulley that fell out(??) and installed a snorkel (thanks @thetoyotaman ) so that I don’t suck in water anytime it rains

The tensioner falling out is a fairly common thing in my experience. It's happened to me and I've seen it a few time. Mine started making noise and then the noise went away and I strangely lost ac at the same time and it was gone

Just when you thought it healed itself....

I missed this one… country lyrics?

not country, not rock, more of a ballid/story in a song
IIRC the song is Black Bear Road, I've still got it on cassette somewhere

Drew, with all the time you spent in colorado i find it unimaginable you aren't familiar with him lol. Former mayor of Ouray. most of his songs are about colorado. you'll recognize him when you hear him.

I am not as cool as you think .

a few lines from the song

leave atleast a pint of blood for a deposit

we come upon a sign that said:
Black Bear Road you don't have to be crazy to drive this road but it helps

Mary Elizabeth drew a picture of the road, it looked like a whole bunch of "Z's" and "W's" all strung together
