For a long time ive had driveline vibrations so today I FINALLY changed out my front and rear driveshafts. Fixed all the vibrations. I also discovered at some point I tagged my elocker actuator and broke the positioning switch. Fortunately it still works but will be replaced soon. I also tightened the u bolts on my sliders for the first time since putting them on 5 years ago and in that time only a few nuts had loosened up. Trying to slowly knock out a laundry list before memorial day weekend.

I gave up on getting the brakes bled on my 40 and scheduled it an appointment at Overland Cruisers. Part of me hopes they have an easy time of bleeding the system, and part of me hopes that they have trouble or find something broken so that I can feel better about not being able to do it myself.

My passenger side turn signal was pointed at the ground thanks to some pretty serious cancer in the fenders. I have a lot of rust repair to do on the truck, but my priority right now is to get it mechanically reliable. So I cut the cancer out of the fender and welded in a piece of scrap sheet metal, which ended up being far too thin and warped from heat. That was disappointing, but also totally functional. I gave it a quick rattle can spray and it looks fine from 30' out.

When I got the truck it had one functioning light and a rat nest of wiring, but I was able to get everything working over a couple weekends. After the fender repair my passenger side turn signal is being finicky. I'd like to have all the lights functional before I drive it over to Overland Cruisers, but I ran out of beer and patience last night. I guess that means I have something to look forward to after work tonight.

I've been driving it hard! 1600 mile RT to Moab for #CruiseMoab2019 including 6 days of hard wheeling. Not a hiccup anywhere along the way. Props to Overland Cruisers for my pre-trip evaluation and maintenance. I learned a lot about my truck on this trip and it turns out I've been underestimating the capabilities of my 80 since I've owned it.
Cruise Moab was fantastic event with over 200 trucks from all over North America & I was proud to be the sole truck from MT . Super well organized with terrific vendor support, many of who led trips throughout the week. Hope to go back next year!

Yea, I’ve been looking at some like the new ones from LCP. They would have helped to keep me from sweating so much rolling over some of the huge Moab “steps”. One more item on the list.......

Been tackling a laundry list of stuff over the last couple weekends.

-Dual batteries are in but it looks like I got a faulty blue sea acr 7622. I can manual override to jump start the 80 but once running it will not combine and the switch doesn't do anything. We have another cruiser at the shop with the same setup and I confirmed mine was wired the same. Dead

-two cheap duralast agms, if they last two years until I can fork out a bunch for some x2 power batteries great

-bussman Cooper relay fuse box mounted right above firewall grommet. Out of the way easy to get to

-New ham antenna, coax and power/ground cable ran. Many of you on the trail noticed I was always fuzzy coming through, chatted with @ttFJC on the air tonight and am crisp

-lightbars hooked back up, work great,

-80 cleaned out and reinstalled my middle row box in place of the seats so Eko can ride up front with us

-Bunch of other miscellaneous stuff checked off the list too

Got my new blue sea acr 7622 from Amazon delivered today. Wired it in and it works flawlessly. Wasn't loosing my mind after all!

That's why we work on them all winter, so that during the summer we can get out and enjoy them while looking for good trout water!

Just loaded the cruiser up for some camping this weekend and decided to weigh it for the first time ever. The 80 comes in at.....

6840 lbs

And that was without Polly and about 50 lbs of misc stuff that still needs to go in the truck. Also I have 0 extra fuel or water on the back of the truck... So in all on a camping trip I'm usually over 7k
