I don't know what to class my 'cruiser as!

According to the compliance plate on the firewall, it's a 12/84 FJ62, but it's got round headlights, Carb'd 3F, 5sp manual, and no electrickery..

I thought all 62's had the electric mirrors and square headlights?

Any hints?

Cheers

Macca

PS: It's an AUS spec cruiser - I've got tilt-o-meters and sliding rear windows. :)

Well, I was rubbing in the PS bit.. :flipoff2:

Still not sure on what it actually is though. Maybe I copped one of the first 62's that still used 60 bits? VIN and engine numbers match the registration papers, so that's a good start..

G'day, Macca! Your FJ62 is legit, the 62 designation refers to the 3F engine, which occured in 10/84. The rectangular headlights were not introduced until late '87. That means that 1985 and 1986 FJ62s have round headlights.

The confusion stems from US-centric information on the web, in the US the 3FE and square headlights saw a simultaneous introduction on 10/86, so people tend to associate the two features.

Your FJ62 has the same drivetrain as mine had originally (carb'd 3F + H55F), but it sounds like yours might be a G-trim level or be missing the electrical package. Mine is sort of a hybrid, electric windows, doorlocks and antenna but manual mirrors. Mine's a GX trim.

Welcome to the forum, let's see some more pics of that beast!

Henry, do you mean 10/87 for the introduction of the US FJ62? I always thought it was 8/87 but don't have any documents to back that up but would like to know for sure. Also, do you have any production numbers of the FJ62 for the three years of its existence here in the US? Thanks.

Well here in Venezuela from 85' to 87' they came with round headlights, 3f engine and H55, and from 88' to 92' they came with rectangular headlights with same specs i write before.

That is correct, we never got a 3F-powered 80 series, the change from 60 to 80 series happened for the 1993 model year. Even more curious is that Venezuela never got the 100 series, the 80 series is still being sold today, 2006 model.

That's right also we have 2006 70 series (fzj71), pick up (fzj79), and troppers (fzj78-79). all models i mention before come with 1fz-fe with 5speed m/t.
guess we're very lucky to still have the old models of land cruiser but every year with something diferent and brand new!!!!

Gotchya.. It's a G pack, and all the information I'd read had come off predominantly US based websites. That's why I was confused.

The 62 must have come out in 10/87 because my 60 has a 10/86 production date.

God damn I'd like to have a 2006 FJZ80 5-speed!!!!!

 this thread has effectively blown my mind

My FJ62 vehicle plate indicates a build date of 8/87.
God damn, I'd like to have your Euro 635!! Having one Euro hot rod - Jag XJ-S is enough for me though.

If you want it, you can buy it!!! That is unless you live in Austrailia.

Don't you mean you can buy it, if you live in OZ? I'd go for a 2006 FZJ80 with an H55F but can I get it with turbo/deisel instead? Then we might have to talk.
:D

I'm hoping he means that you can buy it if you're in The States, but out of luck if you're down here in Aus because it'd be a LHD.. :frown:

Exactamunco. I'm not sure if it's worth an 2006 1HD-T80 though, actually it's definatley not. Maybe it's worth an older HJ60. That would be amazing.

Shipping to and from OZ would kill anything and judging by the fact that you, overhanger, can get and 2006 FZJ80, I'm guessing that that's exactly where you live.

It's still for sale though!
