What happens to the EGR Cooler?

You can make a plate to cover it both ends. I know of one vendors that sells them, Urban land cruisers and I'm sure there are others.

What do you mean, "both ends"?

Remove the cooler from the block (2 bolts) and remove the tube from the exhaust manifold. Make a plate to block off the hole in the manifold. Make it thicker than you think you need (3/16"?) and use some hi-temp sealant instead of a gasket. I blew a couple gaskets out of the plate before I gave up and just bolted it on.

What's funny is that I just put mine all back together. It is very hard to do without taking off the exhaust manifold. Ask me how I know.

Dude please post a pic.

Hmm. I didn't take a picture of it put together yet.

Here's a diagram from SOR. Everything comes off and the plate goes in place of gasket #1:

1. plate (too thin)
2. What it looks like with the EGR removed. It bolts to the block behind the motor mount.
3: bolted to the manifold

If you can believe it the rusty crap in #3 is the same manifold as the one in #2. :)

Looks like mine's already been removed.
