87 and every 3000 miles, one bottle of fuel system cleaner, Slick 50, Seafoam etc.

I run 98 with the advanced timing mod.

Nowadays 91 has 10% ethanol, which makes the truck run like shi-ite.
And the price gap between 95 and 98 isn't that great and since its not a DD it gets the best.;)

I run 91-93, first time I put in 87 i got a CEL P0401. I doubt it was a coincidence so i put in the good stuff now. I changed the o2 sensors and vsv and no problems since. I've put 15000 miles on it in 3 years so its not a huge deal for me:meh:

87 for me, no knocks!

87 octane as well. higher octane does not equal higher quality, it's about resistance to detonation from higher compression, via , er, higher compression engines or power adders (aka: turbo or supercharger).

no pinging with 87 so i'll keep using it.

87 is all that's needed in a jap stock 4/6 cyl - Unfortunately everything is ethanol here and they don't have to post the content- at least it's down to $3.59 - can't get better than 13 mpg mixed drive - when i visit my parents in PA I use their Costco 87 and get noticeably better mileage

In a big, low-revving naturally aspirated engine with stock timing? Regular of course.

Higher octane gas does not have more hydrocarbons, so it doesn't give more power than regular. If the engine is designed for regular gas, putting premium in it will not increase the performance or gas mileage. If anything it will decrease because higher octane gas is more resistant to ignition. The only time filling up with premium gas gives you better results is if the timing is changed. Do 80s have knock sensors that retard the timing? I know some cars that knock on regular gas have sensors that automatically retard the timing to protect the engine, resulting in less power/efficiency.

I used 87 until I filled w/ 91 by mistake. I can feel the difference as the 80 runs smoother and I feel it to be a bit more responsive. I have filled up with 91 since but will more than likely go back to 87 to save $$ and I think I am having CAI syndrome (Louder is faster).

i keep it random where ever im at what ever i grab

Ethanol free regular if i can find it. Mine seems to get a mpg or two better on that. If not it's the cheapest gas I can find.

89 Chevron

Steady diet of Costco regular, the only time it gets other brands is when traveling.

x3. I always go with the cheapest, and there is a Costco nearby, thankfully. Otherwise if out of the area, I usually go with ARCO or Safeway (grocery gas;)).
Everyone on here follows Toyota OEM recommendations, might as well stick with 87 as spec'd...
