A couple questions...be gentle!:meh:

1) My FJ40 has a soft top with a rear tailgate...
On the tailgate, the beveled edge on the inside of the tailgate doesn't allow for snaps to be tightened with a flat nut...advice?

2) Also since this tailgate folds down, it has the two chains, one on each side...is this original or did the FJ's with a tailgate have something other than chains? The reason I ask, is because these chains are load...and annoying? Did they have a wrap or plastic cover?

3) My body mount bushings suck.... any recommendations that doesn't break the bank?

4) My Fj40 has a Ramsey PTO winch what is this thing worth. It is complete as far as the winch goes. Not tranny gearbox or driveshaft....any thoughts? Let me know if anyone is looking for one..

Most of this i have no idea. But the tailgate chains can be taken loose and slipped through a peice of bicycle tube that will stop the rattle. I tried coating them with that dip that you put on tool handles but that was alot more trouble and only half way fixed the clunking.

put the winch up on the classifieds somebody will take it

I have aircraft cable on my tailgate. It's bout 1/4" thick... no clunking or clanging and fits in between the tailgate and body so you don't even see it. It can also be wrapped with rubber tubing so it doesn't fray or rust.

My 74 is an original drop down tailgate soft top. The chains had a fabric sleeve on them kinda like the seat material.

Body mounts seem to run typically around 150-180 beans for the 78 and eariler. Someone pointed that Summit had a set advertised for around 99 bucks, but I have no idea if anyone here has used them or if the kit is complete enough or fitment standards. I'm going to investigate this a little more in the summer. All the mounts for a 78 and eariler are not identical. If you don't get the right sized bushings you may have fitment issues with you front end and could possibly tweak the body a little depending upon torque and use. I got a set of hillbilly made mounts and a cobbled up body with 78 front and 79 rear tub; It'sa mess. Body mounts are almost going to have to be made and fitted.

I'll throw my .02 in

1) I had the same issue with my 75 and I swapped out the bolt on snaps for rivet snaps.
2) Swap out the rear of the top for amby doors
3) Energy suspension ( as mentioned previoiusly)
4) Post it in the classifieds
