What did you do with your truck this week?

Ordered a lift kit for the Tacoma and threatened to sue my local Toyota dealership.

They cut my brake pedal off under the recall without my aproval.:mad:

Oh, and my airbag light is on so I have to replace the spiral cable in the steering wheel. Who would have thought that Yota engineers could srew up such a great truck. Between airbag parts wearing out for no reason, tailgates bending, rear springs sagging, and oil leaks out of timing gear covers you would think they were built by Mexicans or something.

I get my GX470 back today!

Bring a spare thumb drive if you want full size build pics.

Will do. I have on me.

replaced the MC on the 40.
I had a terrible studdering problem in the 62, no power, slowing down going up hills. I jiggled the FI wires and it got better so I figured it was a loose connection... then it got bad again.. in this order I found:
a FI not seated properly
a bad OEM spark plug-replaced all 6
a plug wire that was not seated
a broken FI wire-soldered it back together
while I had the intake apart I tested all FI (but did not replace the O rings or seals since I did it 2 years ago)

She ran well for 10 minutes then bad... then the next cold day she was purring for 8 min then bad...
I pulled the plug wires (I always get shocked doing this even with 2 gloves and a towel in hand) and no change in sound when I pulled number 2 wire... I did an ear test on all FI and found number 2 was not firing... it turned out to be working/not intermittently so I replaced it and she is as good as new..my mpg had dropped to as low as 7 mpg in city traffic,,
I was driving a 7k# 4 cylinder.. now she is giving me about 16 mpg

I have 150# of pressure on 4 cylinders and the other 2 are getting the valves adjusted tomorrow.. my mpg should be great for an 88 fj62 on 33"s

She's home :)

Dan, looks great...can't wait to see it on the trail!!

Swapped in a new TEQ axle for the piece of junk that broke on me earlier this month. The reman looked suspect once I got the old boot off and inspected the cracked outer housing closer.

Hey Rick, how much are boot kits? I think I may have to pull my DS and reboot it.

The best option for a leaky boot is simply a new clamp. No need to remove everything unless it has leaked all the grease out.

Complete OEM boot kits are about $90.

What he said. I used stainless steel marine bands from McMaster Carr. Been on for over a year now and work perfectly.

replaced rear doors with brown doors from 3pitts. Would share pics but internet at home is currently down. Thx att!!

worth using a needle on the grease gun and shooting it up a bit before I re-band it?

Yeah, I was going to get a clamp from tractor supply in about an hour :). Very little came out, just looked like a splash of contaminated goop. The boot still has the grease in it for sure.

I redid it with a hose clamp and used a needle to shoot some more moly up in there before I sealed it up, will see how well it holds.

i ran over my daughters scooter.

I used the McMaster Carr bands because they were pretty high quality, the bands were a bit narrower than typical bands so the fit the CV boot groove perfectly, and the edges of the bands are slightly curved upwards so the band runs less of a chance cutting the boot.

If you have a part number post it up. I got a SS worm driven hose clamp and it is holding fine and I made sure it wasn't at an angle that the boot would flex into anything sharp.
