What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Has anyone used a pipe bag to fill their knuckles? When I say pipe bag I am referring to what cake decorators use for the small decorations on top of cakes. Recently I watched a YouTube via from Donut were he was rebuilding his knuckle and used zip lock bags in the pipe bag fashion. Looks like it makes thing so much easier and cleaner.

Here is the full video Donut Axle build
I use ziploc bags- easy & relatively clean
Yes I have filled my knuckles like that a number of times
I just slide the berfild in and pump it in all around with the grease gun. Clean easy no waste

That is what I use to top off the knuckles. A little messy, but much faster.

My only negative thoughts are that you may want to recess the lights on the corners...I'd rip those off in 10 minutes on the skinny PA/VA trails that I run...just a thought if the bumper is still off of the rig.
Absolutely! They are actually cheap Harbor Freight marker lights to fill these odd holes. I put them on and thought the exact same thing! I'm assuming they will get torn off or smashed, because of the high impact area they are in. When I find an acceptable replacement, they will be replaced.

Went to high places and then some night wheeling.

Took my 80 to get State Inspection (required for continued registration in my state). They told me that the bearings needed repacked to pass inspection......ookay? I was intending to rebuild my knuckles entirely in 2026...not let somebody half ass the job just to let me keep driving it. Anyway, I oblige, because I need my car registered, and they repack the bearings. Almost immediately after picking it up from the shop, the birfs start clicking! I'm livid - white hot mad. I have a trip coming up on the 15th I wanted to take my truck on and I don't have the time nor did I intend to allocate the funds to a knuckle rebuild over the next 2 weeks.

Is my experience unreasonable? What could the mechanic have done that would have led to the birfs clicking? I checked the inspection port and topped up the knuckles with grease. Took it for a down-the-street-and-back test drive just to be disappointed. Still clicking. Any ideas??

The job was, if things go in MO the way the do in PA, almost surely done by an "inspection mechanic", which is somewhere between a fry cook and the kid in the pit at a Jiffy Lube, in terms of automotive skill and knowledge.

In other words, they were done wrong and it's up to you to get them redone correctly.

Understood. Ordered CruiserOutfitter's knuckle rebuild/reseal kit. Opted for all new bearings because..what else am I doing with my life : )

Except it'd fill to the top with dust, in my truck
And or spilled beverages, it’s a no go for me.
Perfect place for a small flashlight😉

I like that USB charger in the cupholder slot

I haven’t had any issues with dust or drinks spilling. The cables stay plugged in and shield the outlets. It’s a convenient place for my wife to charge her phone and my kid power the ipad when needed and keeps the cords out of the dash.

Have you had the R/T Pros out yet? Thoughts? Volume at highway speeds?

I am trying to decide between Toyo R/T Pros or Toyo M/Ts on Method Bead Grip 703s… 17x9 -12 or 17x8.5 0… probably Bronze, maybe Matte Black…

Leaning towards R/T Pros I think. All the trails are between 1-2 hour away… that’s a lot of highway speeds for M/Ts…

Anyone had both Toyo M/Ts and R/T Pros? Thoughts? Comments?

Had to chainsaw the largest tree I have had to do so far today… was about 16” across (only have Ego electric 18” saw. It was about 4-5’ off the ground. Wasn’t easy, but cleared and opened up a campsite and some big hills to play on. I would guess at least a year closed off.

Also thanks to this, learned my winch doesn’t actually work very well. Was going to pull the log up and out of the narrow area, but it would just spin. About a 13-14 year old Warn M8000, could probably fix it… but think I would just like a Warn Xeon XD ??-S instead.
I have Toyo MTs and will never buy again. So insanely loud above 50 mph. Can not carry on a conversation in the cab.

Will be switching to an AT soon.

On the plus side these Toyo MTs seem to last FOREVER.

Glad I did NOT get the M/Ts in the end then!

I am VERY happy… after the first week. First week with them has been 6-hours of highway at ~75mph to get to the mountains and home, and 10+ hours of trail time. Love the new Toyo R/T Pros over the BFG A/T KO2 in all ways. That said, the KO2s are like new, and for sell in classifieds mounted on AmRacing Bajas, and would be awesome for anyone looking for them. ;-)

They can be heard if you listen for them, but still quieter than the wind noise in my ‘97. But they took me right up a hill that the BFG A/Ts clogged up with dirt/mud not even 10% up. The R/T Pros didn’t even really pause, just went up a 200’ climb over 400’ of distance of all loose dirt/mud and wet boulders like it was nothing.
