I got around to adding a usb power outlet and 12 cigarette outlet to the center console. I used a dean's connector as a quick disconnect if I needed to remove the console. The switch is hardwired and puts power to the CB and the two outlets. I bought the outlets on amazon for a few bucks

New shocks and steering damper. The old stuff was... old. Really, really, old.

One of the bolts that holds the driver's side shock snapped before it was fully torqued, which was confidence-inspiring. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a grade 6 metric bolt?

It doesn't ride like a Cadillac, but wow does it ride better.

Having trouble uploading pictures and staying logged in. I have to get up early to take my FJ60 to the mechanic for some bad noises that go away when you press the clutch in (only seems to be a problem once it's warm, though). Images are here: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Ouch on the photos dude... when you are trying to upload you are using the little photo icon in the bar above your free text field?

Yeah and crazy how much new shocks can make a difference.

I tried that and it failed to upload-- still complaining about being signed in. Tried Safari and Chrome, disabling extensions, etc. Nada. I also tried linking via the picture next to the smily face, and that didn't work.

The shocks made a huge difference. I can now feel the worn-out tie rod bushings... that'll be the next weekend project :)

Just got back from my mechanic. Good news is the brand-new ASIN brake master cylinder was bad and was squeezing the front brakes-- cruiser runs a lot better with a new, new brake master cylinder. Feels like a speed demon now. Bad news is the transmission input bearing is making a sound...

The Saga of the stuck door handles continued. I worked on the front passenger side a couple of days ago. Now all of the handles work as they should.
I also fabed up a mount for a short LED bar to replace the old procomp off road lights. Two summers ago I ran the wiring/switch/relay for the LED bar so that's already done. Once the paint dries all I need to do is drill 4 holes behind the winch and bolt it all up and connect the 2 wires. I need to lube it before I do back to work. (I'm really enjoying Christmas break.)

I used a tube bender at the local high schools metal shop. I need to get one for myself but the metal dyes are $$
Thanks for the reply. I need to see if the HS near me has a metal shop.

Installed new "Kicker" 51/4 speakers on my Fj62. Kept the panel looking original and continued using the same covers.
