Today I got up in the middle of the night and ordered a Grade 5 head gasket and Engine Australia was kind enough to sell me just two sets of piston rings for Schrodinger the 105's 1HZ. I figured better to get two two sets in case I break a ring again on the last piston. We also made some progress on putting more of the engine together.
And on the Troopy engine's head I got a couple of photos from the machine shop:
Had to be decked 0.1 mm to get rid of a 0.08 warp. I'm a little worried about it because when I measured the piston protrusion I got between 0.50 and 0.63 mm and the head gasket I have for this one is a little thin for that, even before the .1 skim of the head:
I intend to use a Grade 3 on this engine because it is what I have. But I won't be boosting this engine much. Hope I don't run into valve clearance issues. Perhaps we will measure when we get the head back.
