I'm really hyped on this one; I picked up a 1990 HDJ81—triple locked, 1HDT diesel motor.

The first drive home was 8 hrs, and did it with no issues. It's pretty wild that a 33-year-old truck runs like a dream!

The first thing I had done was a PDI intercooler and trans cooler.

Also added some Corbuea GTS-II seats (with heat)

Waiting on gauges, I had to put an EGT gauge in for now so I'm using a GlowShift. I'll be swapping to REDARC gauges hopefully soon. And I have them in a SAAS a-pillar mount.
Also added some One Stone armrests. pretty easy to modify to work with any 80 series.

Most of the stuff on my short list is maintenance. So, I'm currently getting my front knuckles rebuilt. But while they're apart I'll be upgrading to the later 80 series rotor and calipers for some added braking power.

The knuckles got rebuilt, so while it was apart, I had them upgrade the rotors and calipers from a later 80 series. The difference is pretty noticeable in person.

Looking great, what else do you have planned?
trying to tackle the mechanical first but I don't have a ton planned. maybe front bumper, some lights. I haven't really figured out what I want to do with suspension. kinda depends on my tire size I end up sticking with.. 33 or 35s I don't want to takeaway from the drivability. since this is a daily driver.

If THE motor is original AND you don’t have a precise history of maintenence , pls check THE big end bearings.
THE y are prone to last Just about 100.000 km .
just my 2 cents

Came home to some goodies today.
the previous owner did some HID conversion and left it all messy wiring so I wanted to start fresh. I also got some oil filters and a power steering rebuild kit.

Since I got the boost gauge in. The Turbosmart manual boost controller was right after. Turned the boost up to 12.5 or so

How tall is the Sherpa rack off the roof at its highest point? Im curious because I want one but still want it to fit in my garage. Maybe a measurement from rain gutter to top of the side plate??
