I plan to within the next few months:

SUA lift with Bilstein shocks
reversed U Bolts
8274-50 Warn winch (on the way)
HFS winch bumper
Carb (either Weber38 or Aisan)
DUI HEI ignition system
Tuned Ceramic h\Headers
Intake & manifold
tires

I'm still in the getting it to the sound running order mode.

Plan is to rebuild the Tcase and transmission over the winter. Thats about it so far.

Thats great BBQBoy...You should build yourself a nice little build thread so you can keep all the info in one nice tidy place....Easy to find, and you can post all your changes....An evolution of sorts...

My future mod is rebuilding my steering box and maybe some softer shocks...

Get a serious transfer case on the back of my SM420.

Looking at D300 or NP205.

Prep for Ton's and a turbo'ed 1F.

I was thinking about the same thing with the cases........oh, and get rid of most of my front fenders and boat side the dang thing! They got trashed this weekend, as did my custom highway pegs!!:crybaby:

yea me to.

2.5 SUA HFS..OME..?
address the rust
rebuild hard top
address the rust
disk break conversion
address the rust
rebuild xfer case
address the rust
and about a ton if other things I will dream of and spend the rest of my life paying for.....Man I love these things.:grinpimp:

later,

Corey:cool:

probably front disc brake conversion
then TBI.

I have already done everything else major I plan to do to the 40.

Then start on the 55 pig project

I have 4" lift springs in the garage with shackles/greasable pins/braided brake lines on the way. Still need tires and shocks...

I ordered a BestTop SuperTop during Specter's winter sale.

I'll be busy for a while....

finish sag conversion, and all steering related matters, rebuild front axle (half done)...........find front brake rotor............ endless list

New 2f h41 and rebuild the front and rear with 3:70 gears,

Paint

Mechanics are done for now and it is time to finish the under body painting to prevent rust and finish assembling the hard doors.

This summer - I just did a dual battery, OME 2.5" lift, fresh SM420, supra brake booster, and new hardtop.

Then I am done. Really.

4 speed and power steering are on my list for this winter. Plenty of other "wants" though. I just have to keep re-prioritizing my list. Stupid paychecks just don't come around fast enough!

well once i get my 40 (next monday is est. arrival day right now got picked up today!) but right now i need new shocks, extended drive shafts, 35's, rims, finish exhaust. after that will be roll cage, new seats, 5 point harness, and hard top w/ amby doors. and then finally fix rust and paint

I'm fixing to build some LED instrument cluster lamps, but I'm also rebuilding the engine/tranny/transfer - so who knows when I'll get to that :/

mods

yup, a build thread is what you need. Makes it easy for us to follow along. I have been watching some builds for a year now and you get to look forward to their progress as much as your own.

As for me I am shipping mine overseas with me in July so I am looking at just getting it back together and running.

to do list includes
Jim C rebuild/desmog on carb and dizzy
install gas tank
install new seats I have on hand
Install Eshan Top I have on hand
new bumper install (JOE TLC)
figure out what driveshafts I need to use now with a 2F 4 speed in a 71 with a 4 inch lift
finish exhaust install---MAF Tuned Creamic Headers and the rest of the system

Bleed brakes and clutch
new PB cable
New speed cable

Install radiator and strip and paint body parts

new windshield seal
install Tach
hook up lighting

going back over everything I did for good connections, torque, cotter pins etc

and I am goofing with the idea of installing a military WWII aircraft compass I got into a hole in the dash left by a PO

Good luck with your build--- thats a real nice cruiser as is but it sounds like you are making the kind of mods that wont mess that up!

fire her up!

once it is up and running ps and power brakes and probably a knuckle rebuild

Dana 300....or one of the aftermarket variants based on the Dana 300...

Atlas ain't happenin. :flipoff2: Still got to buy overpriced textbooks for next couple years.

3:1 D300 seems to fit the bill. But at ~$600 for the adapter and ~$1300 for 4:1 gears and 32 spline outputs, I'm at the price of an Orion, which is a bolt on affair for me, and 4:1 to boot. But, no front dig, offset rear output, and without being the HD, a weak front output. Too many options.

I suppose I could get a few hundred for my rebuilt tcase/adapter, to offset some costs, especially since it has a LCR4WD saver on it. ;)
