Location
Basalt, Colorado
I'm excited to announce that in recent weeks I finally made up my mind and I'm moving to Colorado. Ever since my first trip there at 15 I fell in love with the state and have revisited many times since. This decision has been a long time coming and later this fall I will be ready to do it. My exact location has yet to be determined and will utimately be affected by job opportunities. This is moreso a life decision rather than a career opportunity as I find myself limited trying to pursue my passions here in NC. I'd also be quitting my current job in the same time frame so I figure why not make the big move.
There are a few job leads devloping already but if anyone wants to connect me with friends or relatives living there I'd appreciate it.
I'll also be having a fire sale and would like to have one last HAMOM bash before I leave so more details on that. Anybody want to buy Sandy? I'll be posting her up for sale over the weekend. I need to thin out my stuff so I can travel light.

Dibs on the 40 you're guarding. It'll just mysteriously disappear.

Sad to see ya go but do what you need to. Living the life you want makes things so much easier. I'll work on Sarah as far as Sandy goes but our driveway is too full as it is.

WTF is going on! It's like a mass exodus from NC? Will the last person leaving please turn out the lights...

Lydia and I will definitely miss you and hope you let us come visit. Neither one of us have ever been there, but it is on the bucket list. Wishing you all the best in this new chapter of your life. As with Al and Andrea, we said "they are young" and that is what we did before the kids. Moved around until we found a place we liked; which turned out to be her hometown. I had a big influence on that one.

Until you move, let's party and play some more!

Sad to see you go.... well what am I saying. I'm leaving also and this will make you closer to where i'll be :D

I can completely understand wanting to move to pursue your passions even if you don't have a clear career path. That's what got us out here originally.

Colorado is a great state. Went there a bunch when I was younger and then again earlier in the year.

It is in strong contention for where we may end up after our next little adventure.

I'm sure i'll see you again whether its on the Rubicon or at Moab.

Want to make a plan for the overland expo in AZ???

I wish you luck my friend and hope to see you again in the future.

Lets try to coordinate a move at the same time that way I can go through CO on the way to CA ;)

Duuuuude...

I'll buy burt!

I'll text you tonight.

Good luck. I too want to head that way, but am more focused on northeastern Utah (with even fewer jobs), but really need to find a job prior to moving. Job searches run remotely can be a PITA ...

I have thought really hard about moving to Neb. I loved the vibe out there from all the people. Out in the boonies though. Will be heading to Moab and the Con next year so maybe we can meet up for a beer or energy drink or 2.

Good luck and feel free to give me a shout if you need a hand before you go.

I know Jo wants to go out that way also.

Man, no!!! What the hell!!

I'm gonna miss you buddy. Make sure to find a place with a couple of extra rooms so I can come crash.

Are you selling all three cruisers?

I know i'll be going across the country in December. Andrea still has a class at the local CC until then. So even if I move before that i'll be back in December to drive with her across the US. So maybe...... 3 3FE powered vehicles moving across the country........ slowly ;)

Ryan I'll PM you my email address cuz I don't have a phone at the moment. I could sell Burt if the price is right.

The 40 still belongs to my friends so it's not for sale. I intend to keep one of my trucks but if both are sold I'll get another. Need a trail rig out there.

My plan is to travel out just after thanksgiving so an early december caravan might work well.

My intentions are to locate myself in SW Colorado around the San Juans. Durango is choice number one but jobs are scarce. I have a connection in Telluride too for seasonal work. I wanna be close to the high desert area and Moab while keeping close to the mountains and awesome backcountry trails. If I don't land a job in Durango I'm gonna take what I can find and float around a bit till I find my permanent residence. All I don't want to do is live around Denver.

sounds like an awesome plan, good luck to you. If I ever make it out that way , will have to look you up. see you at Logan's run I hope

Sounds like a good plan buddy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

You selling the welder and compressor and whatnot too or is that staying with the farm? What about the bender?

sounds like a dream.....just make sure to end up with a nice barn for all of us to gather at.....

Can I have my camping gear back before you leave? Haha :) also can I have the light saber?

Good luck and you are a hard worker so work will be easy to find.

Johnny, over the weekend I'll be going through all the shop stuff with my boss cuz he intends to buy a few things to keep at the farm. As for the metal working stuff, If I can keep it I will but if I decide to sell any of it I'll let you know. I'd hate to give up what I've invested in over the years but I need to lighten my load for the move.

Adam I'm keeping all your camp stuff until you come get it in CO. It's nice and I'll need it to live in the wilderness on multi day expeditions.

I'll be attending Logan's Run, paying at the door of course. Also, depending on which truck I take with me, I will need some help getting ready via HAMOM. Probably gonna be early Nov. I'll have a complete list by then. I'm gonna cash in on that free labor while I still can.

Man. I go AWOL for a bit and everyone is packing their crap to leave! Good on you Mike-I followed my wanderlust and ended up in Hawaii . I guess this means I'd better get that box I left back in January haha. The huz will be interested in Sandy!!

PM'd ya Charity. That said, if anyone has a genuine interest in either of my wagons justt throw me a PM and we can talk. I'm washing and taking pics of Sandy this afternoon to post up on multiple sites. I intend to sell her as she is the most intact and closer to original. Burt is offers only as of now. I will also have some other stuff in the shop going up for sale but I need to inventory first. When I move it will be quite a while before I'll have a shop again so I'd rather not move it and end up storing it. Ultimately I will always have a LandCruiser so no one should worry about my mental state. I'll buy one in CO if need be
