I have an 82' fj60 that I bought with a holley 2 barrel and I put on a weber 32/36 with no prior knowledge of carbs. It was not as hard as I thought except when it comes to the linkage. The holley was strait out or perpendicular to the fire wall and was a very simple setup. The weber is parallel and requires a 90 degree turn on the accelerator cable. I spent many hours and a vast amount of cuts and scrapes before i have managed to make this work. The problem I have now is that the stock pedal slowly bends over time and then will not produce enough pull on the linkage to accelerate the truck over a certain speed. I have been all over the internet and the only help I can find is a weber pedal and cable from JToutfitters for $150. I just don't know if this will fix the issue or waste money. I've searched the site for an hour or two with no luck.

Any ideas or suggestions? I know I can't be the only one

If anyone has a pics of their fj60 with a weber installed it would also be appreciated

I have a Weber 38 with OEM linkage hooked up. Had to notch the bracket that bolts on the carb for the idle mixture screw. I don't have a very detailed picture though. Here's the best I have:

I can take a better one tomorrow!

ya i can't tell from the pic, but it looks like your linkage is on the wheel side. Mine is on the firewall side, cant tell all that well though.

Has anyone bought the weber pedal and cable from JToutfitters? Probably worth the money at this point, just wanna know if it will fix the problem.

My Cruiser had a throttle lock which was essentially an arm reaching up off the gas peddle with a cable then passing through the dash and being hooked to a knob. I removed the throttle lock, drilled a hole in the fire wall, passed a cable through it, and used the existing arm as my throttle actuator. I did have to tack weld the arm to the gas peddle, but it has been working since 1996, so I suppose it has passed the litmus test.

the weber gas pedal is junk.
i think they used metal with strength equal to a wet noodle to form it.
plus it's made to fit a 40 series, not sure how similar they are to 60series pedal.

I'm using this cable with my weber. This is a VW 16V throttle cable which is much better quality than what comes with the weber. I had to shorten the white plastic end but it fits right into the weber cable mount nicely. The cable is very fine flexible strands which will not fail due to low cycle fatigue like the one that comes with the weber.

Lokar makes an exceptional cable assembly for use in custom rods. I used one when I put in my 350 and it has been trouble-free for the last seven years and 100k miles. If you need a cable setup, that's a great way to go. Check Summit Racing or Jegs.
