Hey guys. Here I am again. As you all know my FJ60 has a Weber Carb. Previous owner had a cable going from the carb straight into the gas pedal. He even made a hole o the firewall. That cable has broken 3 times and I am tired of replacing it. The fj60's gas pedal has a rod that goes to the bell cranking, etc, etc, etc. Mine does not have any of that, it's all missing.

The question is. Can I run a Weber Carb with the stock or original gas pedal, rod, bellcrank, linkage or do I have to buy the pedal and cable kit from weber and spend $149.00 plus S and H??? CruiserParts.net has the original parts but they said that since I have a Weber Carb I am not going to be able to use the OME parts.

Thanks

I believe nothing will work better than the stock cable, BUT you're going to have to get it smoothed-out. Evidently your cable mounting/adapting is leaving something to be desired?? This came up before on this forum (probably a zillion times) and several posted photos of their Weber cable set-ups, BUT some of them looked pretty spooky to me. Just keep your families safety in mind while you're making your own safe-and-sane cable linkage arrangement.

Thanks Downey. I didn't anything till it broke the first time, then I went to hell and back trying to get a cable. Finaly got one and it was too short. Then I decided to get a bicycle brake cable and that worked for a while, later on it broke, Then I went to a Toyota dealer and they got me the actual cable, then realized that the cable goes attached to the rod. Didn't know this. Then found a way to get that cable attached to the pedal, but was done the "getto" way. Now that cable broke and I am tired of replacing that crap.

If I order the original cable, linkage, etc can it be used with the weber or should I buy the weber pedal with the cable?

I wanna make sure this thing is not gonna break anymore or it's gonna break and cause an accident.

You seem to know. What would you do? any pics???

Thanks

Ps I tried seaching and found a lot of info, but not the answer I am looking for

Thanks again

I am having the same problem. I found a way to get everything worked out with the bike cable but now my accelerator pedal and the bracket are worn out so that when you hit the pedal it no longer pulls the cable. I have been looking all day on line to find something and all I found was the one for $149.00. Seems steep but I can't find any other choice. This can't be the first on this issue.

The question is. Can I run a Weber Carb with the stock or original gas pedal, rod, bellcrank, linkage

you can re-use all oem linkage.
i basicly unbolted teh oem carb, bolted down the weber and hooked the linkage back up.
it's slightly more complex in practise, but still real easy.
the bracket on the carb that the end of teh linkage fits into needs a slight modifaction to clear the air screw on the carb.

the weber also sits higher than the aisin carb, so teh linkage ends up with some slightly funky angles, but it all works out.

right now there's like 7 60's, on the first page alone, being parted out in the classifieds section.;)

The Man-A-Fre kit uses the stock linkage and works flawlessly. You might want to contact them to see about getting the needed stuff and then obtain the linkage from a wrecking yard. If that doesn't float your boat, Lokar has a very nice throttle cable setup that I have been using to connect my right foot to the Rochester on my V8 for the last six years/100k miles and it has never failed. I actually have it doing an upward loop like a roller coaster in order to avoid tight turns as it has to move to the right, but it would be sort of kinked without the loop. Kinky is good, but not with regards to your throttle cable.
