Very cool.

I'm planning on a webasto for my next project, just so that I can come home to a warm cruiser all winter long.

Any chance one of you can tell me how much fuel the webasto burns in, say, a 24 hour period? Or how many amps the webasto and blower motor draw when they are operating?

Dan

Pardon my asking, but what exactly is a Westabo?

A webasto or eberspächer will draw about 0.5-0.7 liter diesel per hour on full load.
Current draw is highest on startup ,about 8A with 12V.After startup 4A-5A depending on the interior fan setup.
Both heaters on 24Volt will draw half of these numbers.Fuel consumption will be the same ofcourse.
I can run my eberspächer 2 hours without starting issues.

I just hadn't heard it before

Yes it does, you cut in to the blower wiring, and a thermostat on the Webasto activates the blower when it has warmed up.
The older Webasto timers actually fit rather well where the original clock sits in the dash:

(A bit askew, hadn't noticed it, must be adjusted)

Don't worry about the Webasto draining the battery, it has a low voltage cut-off.

I will look into that. Problem solved. Thanks J

To see what it is - Webasto TSL-17 Coolant Heater

It's a popular name brand of a "diesel-fired" heater. It literally burns diesel to produce cabin heat. Good stuff.

Not exactly, it heats and circulates coolant to preheat your engine, but as I did. It is popular to run the hot coolant through the cabin heater first. It heats to 175F, makes it nice to get into warm truck with hot air coming out the heater.
