Water Temp Guage Question

I am fixing to put some aftermarket guages on my cruiser and all the water temp guages I find come with NPT adapters. It is metric, right? What have you done for gauges?

Do a search, I know this has come up before. I think automeater sells some sort of an adapter.

I got a new guage and it didnt fit my old adapter but the local automart had a "kit" with 5 or 6 differnt ones in it and one of thos worked
