I don't know if this winch is the same, but..

a friend of mine gave me a warn x9000i that a shop had told him they couldn't fix.

Everything seemed in order, cept the motor just didn't want to spin...

Turned out there was some corrosion between the end cap of the motor and the main housing, thus preventing the brushes from grounding to the case. 30 min to figure that out plus 5 with a wire wheel and I had a free X9000i. :D

Klingon? Yeah..I've met him..need to see if the winch dude will take my offer first.

Check with Joel Brown @ 4WheelParts for replacement parts, He's a good guy.. and has good prices....512-459-4979

It looks to me it would be a good deal... I had a starter/alt. shop repair my motor for $80.00.... but all it needed was bushings & brushes....and who knows?? the seller may just be guessn' about the problem.....
