So I have a lead on a Warn 8274 for $200, am I crazy to think it will work in my hundy. Think I could even fit it in my bumper?

I did search for old threads and couldn't find one in relation to a hundy.

Buy the winch anyway. That's a great price. I'd use it without hesitation on a 100 series. It may be rated at 8000 pounds, but I'd take it anyday over the 9500 that at lot of 100 guys are fond of. At that price, you should buy it as a favor to IH8MUD. You could sell it in a day at that price. Remember it is Warn's best product.

it probley wouldnt fit but they're right it is the most under rated winch I bet its more like a 10K on todays standards if you make it fit you'll love it its way fast :grinpimp:

this is what i've always understood as well, but according to warn's site, at full load, it's their slowest winch in the sub-10,000# category. it's their fastest winch with no load but what does that matter?

I think that could be the 8274-50 and from what I understand the 8274 is a different animal altogether.

Nice feature when you want to get the wire back on the spool and get moving.

There might be issues mounting it on a 100.

Wouldn't it screw with the air flow?

It's designed to mount between the frame rails, how would that work on a 100?

I agree he should snatch it up.

I just took some measurments and kinda looked things over.

Comparing my 40m with an 8274 to my 100.

The frame rails on the 100 are about 30" compared to the 22" on the 40.
Any cross member you built would have to be trussed to distribute the stress or it would be likely to bend.

Also the motor and soleniod box would almost completly block air flow through the radiator, well at the least ristrict it. Probably wouldn't be a huge problem but worth thinking about.

I have an ARB winch bull bar, don't know if that makes a difference on mounting it up..

Anyway going to look at it tomorrow and will make an impulse decision when I see it..

Here is a pic of the actual unit..
