Hi ya’ll, new to the forum and to LCs. I bought a 2000 100 series last month and have been enjoying exploring the white Mountains in north eastern AZ. Two weeks ago though I had the VSC trac and vsc off lights come on. I’ve looked around here and other forums but haven’t seen this specific issue addressed. I’ve noticed if the truck sits in the sun the lights will turn off for 30-45 minutes of driving then will come on again. Abs light hasn’t came on like I’ve seen on some other postings. Took it to the Toyota dealership in town and they gave me a quote $2685 to replace the yaw rate sensors and the hydro booster pump motor relay. Just wanted to see what y’all thought and if I should get a 2nd shop to check it out. I’ll attach the service write I got from the dealership. I appreciate any help. Thanks

What's up? I am having the same issue on my 2004 LC - VSC TRAC and VSC OFF lights are on. What is the update with your issue? I tried troubleshooting it myself but I don't have a scanner so I did what the service manual says without using a tester. I got ABS code - 44 and VSC TRAC codes 33, 34, 36, 43 and 66. I removed and cleaned all 4 wheel speed sensors and cleared the codes. Now i am down to 1 code for the VSC TRAC which is code 34. The manual has i think 2 code "34" and one of them is for the left rear wheel speed sensor. So iI checked the left rear wheel speed sensor with a tester and it looks fine. The other code is for the Yaw Rate Sensor under the center console. It is about $430 online, not sure if I wanted to buy a new part or a used part. Hope you fix yours and please let me know if you do.

Mine ended up being the brake booster accumulator motor was failing and the yaw rate sensor. I ended up replacing both.

I see. For the yaw rate sensor, may I ask if did you end up getting a new one or used? and how much did it cost? Also for replacing the yaw rate sensor, who did the zero-point calibration? Thanks in advance.

I’ll chime in here: I replaced my yaw rate sensor with a $50 used sensor from a lower mileage cruiser at a junkyard. For a New Toyota sensor, the cheapest I could find was $270. I did the zero-point calibration myself via Techstream.

I ended up getting a new one and had the dealership do it. I talked to a couple independent shops in town and they wouldn’t do the zero point calibration. I can’t remember how much the sensor was off the top of my head but they charged $180 for labor to replace it and do zero point calibration.

That's likely because most independent shops don't have the Toyota-specific software to do it. But for $40 and an old laptop, you can do it yourself with Techstream in 2 minutes.

I see. I’ll check the part number that is installed and will look for a junkyard just so i have a reference. Thanks for the advice

thanks, will look for a junkyard and see if i could find one. If not, i’ll have to figure something out.

Do you still remember the part number of the replacement sensor? Did it match the old one you changed? Asking coz I just removed my center console and the one installed right now is 89183-60010. But when I check this P/N at Toyota online, says it is for a 4runner. The one showing for '04 LC is P/N: 89180-60070. Thanks in advance.

I was having the exact same problem on my '04. All the usual checks pointed at the yaw rate sensor... dealer looked at it numerous times and came to same conclusion. Had them install a new one ($$$) and problem came back again.

After months and months and months of troubleshooting and aggravation... it end up being my cheap ass china Iphone charger plugged in the aux port in the lower dash. One day I just happened to plug it in and the dash warning lights turned right on. I thought, hmmm, no way. Fiddled with it and sure enough I could totally replicate it every time. Bought a new "good" charger and no more problems. I'm guessing the output of the charger was somehow feeding into the ECU signal.

Can't say this is the same for you but is a simple check before you drop a bunch of $$$'s like I did.
