Mine does the same thing on idle. Also my lights dims on idle. It's been doing this since i got my 92. It had the factory alternator and it finally died couple of months ago. I, replaced it with Napa alternator and hoping it would go away but it didnt. It does the same thing. The voltmeter with jump up and down with turn signal is on, and the voltmeter needle would slowly go down to the middle line of voltmeter and light would dim as it goes down. I dont know what the heck is wrong with it

well guys problem solved, it was the voltage regulator, i found it very hot and almost go to boom!, it drained the battery, checked for hot cables but its fine, i bougth a new regulator from AMSCO VALLEYFORGE its electronic and there is not osccilation at all except the flasher but is minimum almost ridiculous.

Any more detail on the regulator? This is happening on my rig. Can it be found online? Perhaps a part number.

Thanks

I've been having the same problem I've put on a new Toyota alternator but it still does it. I'm assuming the alternator has a internal voltage regulator? Have a 4-5 year old red top optima battery that checks good. I'm running out of ideals.
It's a 1997 FZJ80. :bounce:

it's the clock ticking before it blows up  - better give it to me

I think it's just a midlife crisis, just trying to help it through it.:D
