I searched, googled, looked in the service manual. Maybe no one does this, or it's so obvious to the average person that it doesn't need to be written down.

But, how do you pop out the vent louvres on the rear pillars? They are the plastic pieces in the body, about a foot above your taillights, on both the driver side and the passenger sides.

Thanks advance, truck is a 1998 LX470

alright, will do that if I have to, guess it's no big deal. Honestly, I was hoping for an answer like: stick a flat head screwdriver between the vent and the body (protected with tape of course) and you can pop it off. Thanks though.

That might be a body clip and not a bolt, but I'm not sure.

Did you ever get around to pulling them? If so, how did you do it?

There's a bolt behind that vent, you'll need to pop the rear liner out and it from the inside. I found out the hardway after i broke it by pulling it off from the outside.

Not the answer I had hoped for but the answer I needed. Thank you.

@FxFormat is correct, there is a bolt on the front side of the vent. On the rear is a plastic clip that just pops out. The bolt can only be accessed after removing the D pillar interior trim. A deep socket 10mm is recommended and also have a telescopic magnet on hand. The last thing you want to do is drop a socket or bolt down between the body panels. I also recommend putting a little blue loctite on the bolt before reinstalling. My subwoofer slowly loosened that bolt over the years causing that vent to vibrate and it sounded like a '99 Honda Civic at a red light.

While you have the interior trim removed I recommend doing the same process to all the bolts holding the rear quarter panel vent window and trim in place. You can see the gap that I managed to close up after 20yrs

Hahaha that's awesome, thanks. I was considering painting the grill black and wanted to see how involved it was.
