I paid $4000 for my 96 salvage title with 197k, no rust no dents, came with snorkel and fresh paint, frame is straight, aligned perfectly, original glass, no leaks no oil burning. I would pay $3000-3500 for a burner..... This is a what it looked like when I bought her

In all fairness, 1000 acres of Kansas land is worth about the same amount as a salvage title 80. That state is worse than Texas!

I acquire land against people's will for a living. You could argue that is the most powerful thing that the governments of the US could do to its people. I don't go around spouting off how powerful I am and that is the point. Being loaded is fine, talking down to people isn't and it's certainly up for analysis when someone like OP resorts to the language they used. That said, not all land is valued the same. Kansas probably has a mixed valuation, just like everywhere else. A 1000 acres in Topeka is likely worth a hair more than a 1000 acres in Lebanon, KS, for example.

I was just mocking Kansas because Kansas sucks.

People bragging about how much they have is usually indicative of them not having as much as they say.

There are plenty of guys on here that have stupid amounts of money, yet they never talk about it.

Dumb post on my part.

This soap opera should be in chat. The guy who wants a collector with a salvage title. The dude from Iowa who talks junk about other states (look in the mirror). The lib who's worried about someone's wealth and talks about how much money all the people he knows has (bragging about wealth of others).

In my experience the people that made their own money don't brag, The silver spoons well that hole other story.

Indeed, Red Merle, good points. I guess I took offense to Shocktowers flaming. Caught me on a bad day. and thank you for your service.

ASKING $7500 firm. /QUOTE]

Ridiculous. Guy I know has a no rust, locked, new tired, new head gasket, clean titled '96 with 240K in Anchorage, Alaska that he can't sell for 6,000.

Fly on up and drive it away.

sorry too cold for me up there.

Beer is Good!

That's too much for a salvage title truck. I'm in Kansas....(F-Off...... @LS1FJ40 )....I only own a postage-stamp sized portion, so I'n no millionaire.......

I bought mine for $200, threw $6000 in parts at it to make mine a DD. I had to do the oil leak repairs, but I had to add the new tires.

Do what you want. I'll let the club know that you're waffling and have someone else check it out.......

Mine had a salvage title when I bought it and has since again been "totalled" in my posession (slightly bent front bumper, lol). I love it and use it whenever I can. I paid $5000 or $5500, can't exactly remember. I certainly paid too much in any case. Zero regrets whatsoever.

Performing a good amount of market research in advance will prevent most of these "whats it worth" threads. The market for 80's seems to have stabilized a bit after a quick upswing but in general is trending higher than it once did.

Although I don't need another 80 I "shop" around for them almost obsessively (I'm guessing many other folks do as well). If I were to sell mine I'd throw out an asking price about 1-2k higher than I expect it to sell for and see what happens.

For the OP, worst case you put an offer out and see what comes back. Salvage title wouldn't kill the deal if I was making a trail rig but the price would need to be reflective. As you noticed many folks won't touch the salvage title (rationale justified or not) so it reduces the available market if/when you do sell.

@OP -

Shocktower DID make a good point - between the cherry 100 & the 200'er in your sig, why NOT just drive the nuts off that 100?

Picking up any 80 just means fielding another rig, maint costs, insurance, etc.

I get it, I own more rigs than probably makes sense, but I have my Tundra just because it tows like I wish the 80 could, and I need that.

Flipside is the 80 is the best car-camping rig imaginable, let alone where we take mountain bikes on fire roads, etc. (I'll own it, I extremely rarely really off-road the black one like the old 450 saw, it's got a cushy life)

-- But unless you've got that 'bug' like some of the Microsoft money here & want to "collect the whole set" from the 200 down, I see this as an answer to a question your vehicles already are answering.

Spitballing, why not toss out a WTT ad? -See if any cherry 80's are offered for your 100. It could happen.

100's are cool, but why not just SAS it, have that V8 & the reliability, and not be fielding an extra rig? You already know any bugs/quirks of your stuff. Then you could have the 80 capability & the tq curve we all envy.

Personally if I either would install that S/C on my 80, or V8 swap it - I could ditch the Tundra. In a way you already have a V8 swapped rig, just do the SAS if it fills a need/want for you.

You do know why Oklahoma is so windy.
