Has anyone mounted a USB charger in the dash? My phone sits in a Ram Mount on top of the dash so the charging cable is always in the way of something since it's plugged into the port in the console. It would also be great to have more than one USB charger for driver / passenger as well.

I have not, but on my LC I did remove the speaker grill to mount my RAM mount. It seems feasible that you could mount an USB port vertical sticking up through the speaker grate as it's wider than the speaker

It won't help with your LX but @nakman at Gamiviti is working on an add-on solution for the LC to provide ports up top. Presumably the mounting could be modified in CAD for an LX too

Any write ups on adding usb to the back of the console for second row passengers?

I use these in my 2020 HE. One in the front and in the second row. Allows up to four phones, etc to be charging at the same time Fast and cheap.

Not sure why, but I don't see a link or image in your reply. I think there's one there...maybe MUD is buggy at the moment?
I tried several times to paste and open with no luck.
Here is the Amazon description:

Thanks! My goal though is to hard wire a plug in. This solution is too simple ;)

Here’s a post from another user that installed a USB plug-in in a blank switch, and also installed one on the back of the console (@Tex68w) and in the cigarette lighter. I copied his MagSafe charger set up and am planning to install the below in the cigarette lighter slot…I haven’t been able to find a USB-C plug that fits the switch plate yet.

I’m also using a cig plug usb. This one just allows the door to shut. Bonus shows the battery voltage.

Thanks for the link. Looks like some other great things to add to my list of things to do - amber fog lights was on there. Cheers!

Installed the hardwired usb-c in the cigarette lighter this weekend. Pretty easy job with a clean result.

A few steps:
- remove the leather knee pads from driver and passenger side
- remove one screw on each side
- pull off the silver trim piece
- pull out the cigarette lighter/12v/ashtray module
- disconnect all power connectors
- the cigarette lighter took some work to get out, I ended up having to destroy the white piece that holds the light and keeps everything secured
- widen the hole with a dremel
- install charger
- clip off the old power connector, strip wire, install spade connectors and then plug onto new charger
- put everything back together. I left the light connected but it’s just hanging behind the module.

I found a nice multiport usb and a usb c outlet on Amazon. It plugs into a cigarette lighter.

But my plan is hard wire the unit and put it in the dead space under the cup holder and run wires out beneath the center console trim pieces. Clean. Tidy. No wires all over the shifter and center console.

And super easy access if I want to change a charging cable.

I mounted two Blue Sea dual USB outlets in my dash. One right above the ash tray (2014 LC) and one right above my knee in the knock out switch location.

The thread with pictures is linked below. I have pictures with the dash all apart if you need to see more details.

I bought a usb connector to replace the rear cig lighter with. Do you have a picture of how you connected the factory cig lighter to the aftermarket usb? Is it just two wires? Need a special connector? I couldn’t find any detailed pictures of the actual connector.

I didn’t get a pic of end product but I just cut off the factory connector (pic below), stripped the two wires, and crimped on spade connectors (came with my usb charger). The spade connectors attach to the two prongs of the usb charger.
