urgent help LJ 78 electric locking hubs ..

my lj 78 electric locking hubs are not working as i have repaired it 3 times now my mechanic have told me to switch over to the manual one as they are more cheap,reliable,and easy to repair.so my rig is 100% genuine and i dont wanna change n alterations but its always very hectic.
what should i do go for the manual one or stick to the electric??????
what alterations should be done to the differential and hubs if i go for manual???
i need your suggestions as i am stuck in between electric locking hubs and manual ones....

Get rid of the electric locking hubs, they work okay when the work, but once they need repairing the cost of parts is not worth it.

You can install a set of factory Aisin hubs with adapters, or you can change the spindle, bearing hub and related parts and also install the factory Aisin manual hubs.

We sell adapters, and there's another guy on here who also sells a mod for the electric hub that makes it a manual unit.

I finally got fed up with mine at the weekend and my wife needed the car for the school run (yes she really needs 4WD for the school run in wet season). I popped the cover off, wound the gear out on the helical shaft, pulled the gear off the motor and so they are now permanently engaged. Quick and cheap! Just note that you still have to press the 'hub lock' button to get 4WD.

As was said there is a kit you can buy that has a dummy motor and allows you to manually engage/disengage them with an Allen key through a hole in the cover but its pretty pricey!

You would need to work out the cost of my conversion plus freight each way from New Zealand on 1.5 Kgs then convert into your curency, as to the cost of other ways to fix your hub problem.

thankyou everyone i have changed them.....got manual locking hubs from some 80 series for 34$ and 22$ for nuts n bolts +mechanic charges got it pretty cheap as the electric ones are quite expensive....plus the manual works fine!
the conversion was way to simple cutted the electric 1 half an inch,some bolts n nuts and attached the manual ones.took me an hour to do so.......love the manual 1...

all this bitchin about the electric hubs ...
make sure your mech knows how to work on them
make sure you don't cut corners when putting them back together

but

all said, you can't beat a manual hub system.
