If I can catch a ride with someone from Charlotte I'll go. I don't know what my truck will be looking like that day.

You can ride up there with me if you end up not taking your truck. Unless I get a chance to change out the suspension between now and the 27th, get ready for a bumpy ride  :steer:.

If you guys are going to be there on sunday. I can arrange something to go there sunday. Let me know

Please post up if you plan to attend so I can setup campsites and trail passes.

Yes camping is allowed I was going to get a final count and let them know, we will not be the only club there that weekend so we need to reserve ahead of time if possible.

When do I need to let you know for sure if I'm camping? Also, is the trail pass the same as the season pass and do I have to get that ahead of time or the day of?

I know I'm answering for Greg, but if he needs to inform them by Tuesday, you probably need to let Greg know by Monday.

Also as far as the pass, we can buy daily and season passes at the outpost. Not sure whether 2010 season passes are available yet since the trails are not open to the public. If you want to get the free daily pass, the ranger will have them when we show up. I heard they gate the trails, so not sure how it will work with wheeling since they are still closed.

Thanks for the info Clint.

I don't plan on doing any wheeling, just wanted to know if we needed to pay for a pass to be out there for the trail maintenance and if it had to be done beforehand. I guess not since you mention getting a free day pass from the ranger.

Last time we had a clean up I showed up late and was not sure about getting on the trails without a pass. I went bought a day pass to b on the safe side and when I found the group, the ranger asked if I needed a pass. I would not be to worried about passes at this point since every one ther will be on clean up duty. The trails are not opened yet.

My 2 cents

Since the park is closed and we are there to do work for the park service I would be very suprised if you needed a pass. I would be even more suprised if you could find a day pass for sale. :grinpimp:

Grarrett and I plan on pulling our small pop up camper and plan on spending saturday night. we will work saturday and would like to hit a trail or two afterwards. we plan on heading back to raleigh mid to late morning sunday. if they don't mind the pop-up at the group site then i am good with that. If I need to make a seperate reservation at arrowhead please let me know.

Thanks Eric

Are they going to let us ride the trails after the clean up?
I might be able to go and lend a hand after all.

For the times I've done it, its trail maintenance and not clean up. And because its still closed, trail riding is not part of the deal other than to get to/from your maintenance area(s). The maintenance typically takes most of the day anyway, especially if they have you put up guard rails.

The family will be there this weekend. I we shooting for Camp A, Greg? Or just whatever is available?

that's what I was thinking

dosen't really matter as i am going down to work, but that was what Janet said at the last maintenance event.

I'm with Eric - Janet said that if we did maintenance during the closed season then we would have the run of the park for free to wheel.

If she was serious or not, that was what she said to our group during out 'erosion control' session.

Regardless, I'm planning to be there to work, hopefully wheel and camp as long as it isn't raining.

There will be a caravan from charlotte. More details comming up.

Details about equipment and activities

Theresa sent me this information:

Hi Everyone - This is the last work weekend before the trails open - YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank to all of you for your willingness to volunteer! We appreciate it. Here are the plans for this upcoming Saturday. We'll meet all of the volunteers at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp at 9am this Saturday.

Wolf Den Trail - Olde North State Cruisers - You'll be working with Jeff Greene on installing about 4 pieces of guardrail along the trail in a couple spots where there are some illegal trails/cut offs developing. You'll fix some sections of split rail fencing near the Wolf Den Trailhead and then on the section that is just south of the Sawmill Trail intersection. There are a couple of trees that Jeff will cut down and he'll need help cleaning up the slash and tree boles from the trail. Jeff will have one of our gas/hand augers with him and it should be ok with only having to put in 4 pieces of guardrail so you I don't think you'd need to rent an auger. We'll need to drag the guardrails and posts into the sites with chains or straps to the sites where it's being installed. We don't have your adopt a trail sign in yet but when we get it we'll be replacing the NCTORRA sign with an Olde North State Cruisers Sign. It should be in my mid - April.

Please have your club members bring any claw foot hammers, sledge hammers, shovels, rock bars with tamping end, post hole diggers, ratchet / wrench sets that they have so there will be enough tools to go around. We'll have some shovels, post hole diggers, ratchets & wrenches & sledges but we'll have 3 groups working so the more your folks can bring the better. Also, make sure they have work gloves, work boots, water, lunch and proper clothes.

Group camp is full so we will be at Arrowhead, Janet is going to call me to let me know what spots are going to be reserved for us.

We will have the sites on the right as you pull into arrowhead, I have mentioned we will have one pop-up camper (Eric and Son), besides that they won't be power sites but we have access to the power of the host site. We will have one double site.

I need to know who's camping friday night and who's camping Saturday night.
