Not mine but it's worth a laugh.

According to this guy they only made hardtop 40s in '64 and '65 which must make my 77 hardtop priceless. I'll start the bidding at $100,000. :).

What is with guys claiming rarity for stupid stuff these days and trying to get twice what a rig is worth. Oooooh my rig is the only green 77 with a hard top, white roof, 4-Spd and rust on the rear sill....WTF?!

Ok rant over.

How long was that particular hardtop style produced? Just curious.

It is the ribbed sides on the hard top. Rare like he said. Gets points for coolness, but not sure it makes it worth more.

That particular Corrugated hard top model was only made for a year and a half...1964 to mid 1965. It has the shorter posts behind the doors. The earlier corrugated tops 1963 and earlier, had the longer posts.

That said, as far as the top goes, yes, these are in fact pretty rare because they were made for only a year and a half

Edit: just added a picture of the '63 and older top with the noted higher posts.

Corrugated hard top were made until mid 65. All early FJ40 and FJ25 used basically the same hard top.

I have two 1966 FJ 40's with the same top as this.

What Johnny said. My research shows that your two rigs were most likely built in early '65 late '64, but only titled in '66. This happened a lot in the early '60s...I have read that some rigs sat new on lots for 1 to 2 years before being sold, and titled

X3

I would also be curious if these have the vent in the bottom of the windshield frame and bug catcher vent windows on the driver's and passenger's doors. Specter Off Road has chart with production dates back to 1964. SOR.com

What year top has both the corrugated sides and the rear corner windows?

none...mid 65 was the 1st year for the corner windows

any windows on a corrugated top were added were added by a PO...same with double rear door glass.

the corrugated tops are not easy to see from...blind spot galore...and was a popular mod
