Hey all, just picked up a 98 LC and went around the frame with a screwdriver and besides the image below and some rust of the rear area, the frame seems pretty solid and it appears to have had an "undercoat treatment" although more likely just sanded and painted...

I noticed there is rot around the notorious rear cross-member (51207B) which I assume was covered up and ignored. I poked around here and it looks to be quite weak.

The top and the rear (spring facing side) are solid.

I have temporarily fluid filmed the area but was wondering if the entire crossmember would need to be replaced or if this is repairable?

Thanks in advance, this site has been incredible!

What’s the worst that can happen if you just leave it alone? How long you plan to keep this vehicle?
