Cutting into the
right rocker today… and yeeeah, what should I say? I went in hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst — and yep, we got
the worst. You could pretty much
carry the remains away with a shovel.
It was completely gone.
All
three layers that make up the rocker had to be rebuilt. I started with the
third layer, the deepest one. Shaping it was a bit of a pain thanks to the awkward curves and its location, but we got it done. Of course, I made it from scratch, doing everything I could to
mimic the original design.
Once that was in, I hit it with
rust primer and moved on to the
second layer — the one right behind the visible outer rocker. Same approach here: copied the original as closely as possible, even though no one will see it again. Minor cosmetic flaws here are fine — it’s all about strength and longevity.
Tomorrow’s plan:
outer panel (the one you see) and wheel arch. Let’s just say… the wheel arch might be hiding something interesting. You’ll see soon enough.
