I have told to get a ubolt flip kit and I like the MAF kit but DANG!!!$$$$$$$$$
Has anyone used the flip kit from Marks offroad?

Duuuuuuuude. Relax. You don't have to buy everything under the sun just yet. Get your rig, drive it for awhile, and decide what mods you want to make.

But let me get this straight. You couldn't make up your mind between a 2.5" lift vs a 4" lift because you don't do much hard core wheeling. And now you want to flip your u-bolts for ... well, you kind of lost me. Yeah, it is a decent mod, but if you aren't going to be wheeling it that much, what's the point? If you plan on scraping your axles over rocks all the time, then yes, flip those u-bolts. If you are just going to run dirt roads, wait awhile.

It seems you agonize over every decision. Again, relax. Like I said, you don't have to buy everything just yet. Enjoy your rig for awile and then plan out your mods. If you feel like you need to get a u-bolt flip kit down the road, they will still be available.

With all that said, Mark is a forum member and I can't see him selling junk. On the flip side, the 4+ stuff MAF sells has a great reputation. I don't think you could go wrong either way.

Good luck with ALL your decisions!

I am relaxed. Cool as a cucumber. I don't know why you are getting upset with me when I am just going on the advice that is being given. I am not as knowledgeable as y'all on what is "needed" and just an upgrade. Your advice suits me just fine because I don't have to spend the money.

Personal experience would point me to Mark.

I'm not upset at all and I don't mean to sound like a jerk. That is not my intention. It is just painful watching you agonize over every decision. Seriously, how many threads have you started in your one month of being a member here? There is usually 3-4 threads on the front page everytime I log on started by you asking a question. Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that you ask questions before you plop money down on something. But like I said before, enjoy your rig for awhile and then plan your upgrades. Figure out what you like and don't like about it, and then fix it. It doesn't all have to be done today or even this week. Just my opinion.

Good luck!

OCD man. OCD.
I haven't had my Cruiser for 2+ weeks so coming on here makes the time easier.

I'm with FF LC FREAK

You might as well have gone SOA!!!

you're already leaning towards having a rig to wheel

Edit: Not sure if Ruff Stuff makes some, but all his stuff is on sale til the 31st.... (all his stuff in stock that is)

I have the 4 Plus+ U-Bolt flip kits and they are some kinda stout. I've been very impressed with all the products Dave fabricates in his shop in Globe AZ. As far as the cost - they are well worth the money.

LOL. I hear ya! Truly, I'm not trying to be a jerk.

Merry Christmas!

Perhaps after owning a Land Cruiser for a few years you will realize the value with a quality product.

Until then, install the conventional u-bolts and run your junk for a while.

MAF 4+ products are well worth the $$$

:meh:

Skip the u bolt flip kit. Its not as though no-one can wheel or drive an FJ40 without them. Plus they are pretty straightforward to install down the road.

I would concentrate on making the engine(2F?) reliable(and efficient as possible), maybe add power steering, absolutely ensure the brakes are up to par, and enjoy. Other than that, you can use it as is for a long time!

I have done my fair share of builds where you try to get everything you want(at the time of planning) done in one shot, and frankly they were the cruisers I enjoyed the least.

X2 "I have done my fair share of builds where you try to get everything you want(at the time of planning) done in one shot, and frankly they were the cruisers I enjoyed the least."

As someone who tends to research to a point of absurdity, you have my empathy!
Having said that; The mods done that are the most memorable/enjoyable have been those that resulted from issues on the trail!
Merry Christmas and please do reward your hard work with a cruise...preferably off road.

s***! i'm pissed because you're going to have more posts then me in another month.... j/k!

i got the MAF 4+ flip for the rear.. extremely heavy duty and well designed. Easy to install. I don't need the flip but my stock plates with the shock pin were messed up and i needed new u-bolts anyways... they did just the trick. The powder coat did flake off of one of them already.. but I'm not too worried about it.

The cost to ship the 4plus parts to the east coast force you to pre-plan, or pay dearly for that item you forgot to order.
