Two-car Garage Heater?

I have an electric "oil filled" heater I bought when.... I lived in Beaverton! :) (Cedar Hills... on Havencrest)

It was Italian Made oil filled that had two switches. 750W or 1500W with both tossed. Worked on 115V.

Not a lot of heat, but just enough to take the chill off. Garage was pretty well sealed, no drafts, good insulated door. Just getting the garage into the mid 60's meant being comfortable working, or too cold to handle tools. :)

Moved to Texas in '93... haven't really used that heater since. :)

I've used these and have also used MPI heaters. They are efficient and reliable. In my area they are the primary heating source for most people. They have to perform well for the interior Alaskan winters

Propane powered Mr Heater, many models to choose from. 13,000 - 50,000 BTU.

Get a 5 gallon Propane tank and your set to go. Total price for both $70.

I use mine in my 3 car garage, takes a half an hour to warm it up from 30 to 60.

Great for camping. Instant heat in the AM. My girls love it. So does my wife

I have a Rezor 60K BTU in my garage and love it. It keeps the garage "shorts and a t-shirt" warm in -30 winters up here. I was border line between the 45 and 60K BTU units so I went with the bigger one for my garage (3 car).

Where did you purchase it? Or did you purchase from HVAC Co and have it installed?

I bought it through a HVAC wholesaler up here and installed it myself. Buy the vent kit and it makes life much easier. I think it took me about 2 hours to hang it and vent it. I had a gas fitter run the line while he was doing our BBQ and dryer lines.

So it must be vented? The location is everything then.

Hummmmm

I think the manual said it needs to be a max of 3' from the wall and one or less 90 degree bends if I remember right. You can probably download the install instructions on the site and double check for sure.

I've installed a few of these

Modine Hot-Dawg work great, are direct vent and can be mounted directly to the ceiling. You can get them in sealed combustion too (no air or fumes from the shop go into the burner).

Around $500 for 2 car garage.

FWIW, I bought one of the parabolic dish heaters from Costco. Tried it for one night, it sucked, and I returned it. Really nice if you are standing right in front of it, but no oomph to get the rest of the room warmed up.

The search continues...

Will let you know. Hope to install my Modine HDS45 over the weekend or some night next week. Prob didn't need the sep combustion, but for a tad more it was worth it plus it's more efficient that way.
