Some projects have switched direction and now I have too many diesel engines sitting around.

First is a fully rebuilt 12HT by Lynchmob asking $10,000.00 + shipping. Engine comes with a low mileage Automatic transmission and is 12 volt.

I can help arrange shipping for either of these engines and both are located at my Sisters, OR shop.

For the rebuilt engine this is the work that was performed:

>> The head, block, crank and rods are checked for cracks and straightness
>> The main bearing journals in the block are line honed
>> The crank may be ground or replaced
>> The head and block are surfaced as needed
>> The rods are reconditioned - big ends re-sized, new bushings installed, and they are matched for length
>> These parts are all replaced
>> All bearings
>> freeze plugs
>> pistons
>> valves
>> valve guides
>> valve lifters (depending on engine)
>> cam is re-used, reground, or replaced depending
>> glow plugs (depending on engine)
>> gaskets and seals
>> The rotating assembly is balanced.
>> The fuel pump is serviced as needed
>> fuel injectors are rebuilt
>> turbo is checked, re-sealed and balanced.
>>And Rebuilt Injector pump.

Very nice! Boy, one of those sure would look good in my 60. GLWS!

Want. :)

Ugh. Scott... you're killin' me! I'd love to toss one of these into my pig along with an SVO setup. ;)

Cheers, Carlos.

I thought you were driving a Jeep now as in some forum you stated your "junk" was broken and surly you wouldn't refer to your prized pig as "junk".

Either of these engines would fit right at home in your pig...one of these club meeting we will have to sit down and talk.

Oh snap. I can't believe you assumed/wrote on MUD that I'm driving a j*#p all of a sudden. I had to delete my original response- it was crass. Wicked harsh man. ;)

We'll talk soon...

Conversion questions

So I would love to buy the used 12ht!

The biggest is question I have is how difficult is it to swap into my 1990 62. I already have the h55. How much does the 24 to 12v affect. What all needs to be replaced?

Thanks

Off the top of my head, you'd need a bellhousing (from an HJ-61 or HJ-60), and then the engine should bolt to your transmission. You'll need to fabricate motor mounts (or get some cut out of an HJ-60/61), and you'll need wire up the glow plugs, fuel cutoff, and plumb a radiator and power steering to the 12HT. Also need to modify the fuel filler neck to work with a diesel nozzle (easy, and cheap, but you've got to do it). You've also got to make sure the alternator and AC work.

The only things you'd have to change from 12-24V would be:
  • Alternator
  • Fuel control cutoff
  • Air conditioning electrics
  • Glow System
  • Starter

Overall, VERY easy.

Not entirely true...
The 12H-t does not have glow plugs, but a single glow screen, this requires a control box, relays etc. But won't be needed unless you're in Alaska, the direct injected engine starts really well in the cold.
There's no fuel cut-off, but a vacuum operated valve - like a throttle valve - in the intake stopping the engine. So you need the VSV for that too.
The diesel does not produce vacuum, so you need the diesel alt with the vacuum pump and a vacuum reservoir too,
But all in all an easy swap, and you should be able to change it from 24v to 12v rather easily, starter, alt and what-not.

PM'd you, not sure if it went through. Thanks!

Just got back in the office after a little R&R and have been receiving a lot of emails about these engines. If I did not respond to your email my automated response system may have eaten your email. So if you are still interested in one of these engines send me an email or give me a call.

The used low mileage 12HT was spoken for on Monday and I am now just awaiting funds. If something changes with the status of this engine I will update the thread.

The rebuilt 12HT with automatic transmission is still available.

Only have the Rebuilt 12HT now. Let me know what questions you might have.

would the rebuilt 12HT + auto essentially "bolt in" to my 88 FJ62?
(apart from motor mounts, glow screen and vacuum pump, as above)

would my A/C compressor P/S pump, etc all bolt on?

more photos?

Still have the rebuilt 12HT for sale...let me know if there are any questions.

Figured this needed a bump after two months....been way too busy to plant the 12HT into any projects so it is still available.

U entertaining offers or firm on price?
