Hey guys – twisted a sector shaft a few weekends ago on my HZJ75. I have searched already and it appears to be nothing about what people have done to prevent this from reoccurring. Any ideas [other than slowing down and putting smaller boots on] are appreciated – hydro assist maybe?

the 60 series seems ot have the same weakness, well in the hands of some drivers anyway...

Well in my case with 37" not yet .. ! ;)

of course the 2 i have seen were Peter's (behemoth60) and Roy's from our club... neither are noted for being gentle on their rigs...

Seen a few here locally, mini's too (essentially the same size shaft)

Go ram-assist, it takes ALOT of pressure off of the sector shaft.... I broke a pitman arm (snapped in two, and a sector shaft on a Saginaw, of course on completely remote trails, Rubicon, etc). The ram assist seems to have helped alot in addition to the easier steering.

The one I run and recommend:

I second the ram assist recomendation. Its the best off road mod you can make for the money, hands down.

Been argued that the ram will be a definite issue with the steer arms and sheering bolts?

Hasn't been an issue round here, but it does add a larger moment to the equations... time for FEA :D

A picture of the item for those interested - looking closely I'm surprised it did not shear off....
