I got the set up on the first pic.. I would say it has more leverage = less effort, over the second set up.. but the levers could be modded to be parallel to each other... regardless of the set up you use

the second is my picture. it might not have been in gear or something like that dont remember. they are both straight up and down. as far as fat rod vs skinny rod maybe newer design but trust me you are not going to break either one. if you look at the outer block in the 1st picture it needs to be bigger for the mounting holes.

I have the first setup also. Honestly I think what it'll come down to is how you have the sticks themselves bent and the length configured. Georg designed it so you could configure the sticks really any way you want as long as they can still actually shift.

I see that they leave the shift levers in slightly different positions relative to one another…

Both lever positions are adjustable by several inches by virtue of the threaded ends on the rods that go to the case selectors. If that is not enough adjustment, you can bend the shift levers or make a longer rod. I thought it was more important to make sure that both levers had full range of movement while centered in the hole than to worry about the positions of the levers relative to one another. Mine are like the ones in the first photo FWIW.

Ok... so, going with the thicker of the 2 "L" arms am I correct in thinking I need to shorten the leg that goes into the block to get the threaded extension to be more-or-less straight out from the transfer case shift rail?

Thick "L" lever has been cut and welded and drilled.

Threaded rods are trimmed to length to leave the shifters vertical and parallel when in 2wd/Hi.

Still wanting to see what folks have done with the shift levers: bent etc...

Also: have folks bent the shift levers so they are not quite so close together once installed? Pics?

I didn't have to bend mine at all for my 40 installation, but I did make a new longer rod to go in between the lever and the high-low range shifter on the transfer case. The steel blocks in question that the levers thread into are wide enough to keep the levers apart. If you want them farther apart than this, I guess you'll have to bend them:

Looks like you went with taller/shorter on the shifters?

That's the length that my shift levers came; I didn't cut either one for length. The difference is not dramatic - maybe 1-1/2"? I guess it is enough so that the shift knobs don't interfere or rattle against each other. It never occurred to me to make them the same length.

I cut and welded mine....

I modified the AA twin stick mount and bent/trimmed the shifter rods quite a bit to make them work well in the 40 with the centered 5.7 vortec and NV4500. I also made screw-in pins for the shifter rods so that they could be removed when necessary. Getting the hump off with the shifter rods welded would be a real pain. I'd hate to have to field strip the truck on the trail if I ever needed to get the hump off. The removable rods help.

i cut, welded and bent mine. i have a th350 so i had to go forward with them otherwise they would have beed to close to the passenger seat

cause them rods are hard to bend.. plus I found it easier to cut n weld...
