Yep, socket on the the sensor and remove - easy. CCW to remove.

Likely someone sheared the 'top/connector end' off the knock sensor - probably when replacing the PHH... and were too cheap to replace it. So what you see is a totally sheared/broken knock sensor still in the block.

I ordered from what I think is the same place (same pic and description), but not on e-bay, back on 10/23 and still waiting on delivery. Hopefully they are legit and take care of my P0330 code.

I'm installing the new sensors now. Mine came in a genuine Toyota box double wrapped in plastic but no part numbers. The sensors say Denso below the plug. The sensors I took off are different but I don't know it they have been changed before. The old part does look like the standard motor products picture.

What was the indicator yours need replacing?

No direct indicators. I've been chasing down an issue where the timing has little to no advance at idle/low rpm. After looking at the cost of the knock sensors I jumped on the opportunity to save some money. I have a little history on the work done by previous owners and most parts are original. I happened to be replacing the fuel filter and decided to swap in the sensors while I had the extra room to work. I'll post more of the details in my build thread later today. Many new parts going on.

Probably not a bad idea as ive seen quite a few sensors that the plastic literally crumbled when i tried to remove the wiring connector

But without an associated code i doubt you helped your situation.

I replaced Knock sensor #2 2 weeks ago after breaking off the original one while doing the phh job. Thought I was slick and jb welded the sensor (wire inside sensor was intact). After starting the cruiser, it ran like s*** to say the least! Felt like it started in 3rd gear and would idle bad. I read the code that was being displayed and it was a code 55 (bad #2 knock sensor)..
Bought one of these sensors from ebay and slapped it on and all is good. FWIW, the sensor was kinda different, but the plug was a direct match to the engine harnesses connector.

The old one...does it have a name or p/n on it? Looks different, but I haven't done any of mine yet so don't know if the look just changed over the years.

I just checked link and it appears there 89$ for genuine Toyota ones now. I'm guessing I missed out on the 30$ ones

The main characteristic was a P0330 code. The details stated that the code appeared at 1950rpm, with 56% engine load. This rpm threshold is more or less when the knock sensor circuit is activated. The code appeared so it means there was no signal from the sensor. Either bad completely (little probability) or smacked cable. So there was nothing more to do than have a look at it.

There is also the possibility that timing is retarded when there is no signal from the sensor. This decreases power and increases fuel appetite. In my case I didn't feel any big power loss, probably because the other knock sensor was operational.

This is an EXTREMELY important little piece of information in regards to diagnosing the P0330! Thank you for sharing sir!

Where did you get the information that this rpm threshold is where knock sensor circuit is activated?

I am experiencing the exact same thing but my thought process initially was: "it cant be the sensor because otherwise code would throw at idle as well"

Bumping this post bc I found this to be a critical piece of information. Detail and sources would be awesome where you found/heard this factoid.
