3. Brand new ccot after market switch
Where should I start tring to track down the problem.
Thanks  :D

Cannot say say I can help for sure, but have you followed the wiring diagram? I would myself, but my PO did a neat thing with wiring. Getting all of those, what? 8 or 10 connectors going the right way is a challenge. I just tried various combinations, but gave up perfecting it after a while. Everything works, but I have to have the blinkers on for the emergency flasher to work. So, I would bet you still don't have quite the right arrangement.

Have you verified all 4 lights blink with the Hazards?
Is it only one or both turn signals that don't work?
Did they both work before?
Did you check the fuse?
The turn signal switch is mounted in the engine compartment on the pass side fender wall. Little tiny box next to the coil, at least on a 77. Make sure the connection is good.

Need the above infor to help further.

I got into almost the same thing recently, 74 FJ40, do you have a wiring diagram?
If not this may be impossible.
THe voltage goes from the TS switch, to the hazard switch, then to the lights. I had rodent damage on the large bundle of wires between the hazard switch and the firewall.....3 hrs later with my back killing me I had them all repaired.

Get a new flasher. NAPA has them for around $10 ea. The hazards get more current that the turns so can power through a weak switch. If that is not it verify wireing.

Hmm. My '78 has one flasher unit for all lights. Hazards work fine. The left signal works, right does not. (manual flashing around cops! :D)
Also, the signals won't flash at all with the headlights on.
I guess the flasher is just worn out.
A buddy took it apart and adjusted the spring and it worked properly for about a week.
My local toy dealer wants $65.00 for the unit.
Is the one from NAPA the same? Or should I just clip the wires around my flasher unit and replace it with two cheap flashers? (one for turn, one for hazard)

Have you made sure you have a good ground at the lights. That is so important. You can test by using a wire directly from the battery ground to the light grounding surface itself.

Or you can use an Ohm meter to chasis. All 4 have to have a good ground contact

If the lights blink when on Hazard look at the flasher. If one does not blink when on flasher look at bulb or ground. If a ft blinks and RR does not look at bulb or ground.Assuming all is hooked correctly it is either the flasher or ground. Flashers are all generic. 2 pole heavy duty about $10from NAPA. Stick a voltmeter into the socket. The bump in the middle of the socket is the hot, the lamp gronds to the side of the socket. Ensure you have a ground from socket to chassis. The meter should jump around from 1-2v to 10-12v as it flashes. The hazard system is part of the turn system. One flasher for both. The hazard can run without the ignition on while the turns cannot. hazard gets power from the horn/lighing/lighter circuit.
