I am new to this forum and just bought a 1985 FJ60, really excited about starting to restore this truck. This is not my first Toyota having owned 4 Runner's, and Tacoma's since 1988. It is in great shape and mechanically sound with one problem; the turn signals both right and left flash fast inside, but do not work along with the horn. I have tested every bulb, all are good, but it appears that there is no ground. I can see by the wiring diagram that these two are connected for a common ground.

Questions is where is this circuit ground located, for the life of me I can't seem to find it.

The ground locations are noted on the OEM wiring diagram. Each of the turn signal lights is grounded to a different ground point located near to the location of the bulb. Have you check for +12V going to the lights? Power flows from the battery, through fusible links, to the fuse box, to the switch, to the lights then to ground. You should check fusible links and fuses first, or make sure you do have power getting to the bulbs. I think it is unlikely that all your ground points are bad.

The horn is grounded locally. Power flows through the horn to the switch then to ground, so the ground is probably someplace in the steering column. In this case there is a horn contact under the steering wheel that allows the wheel to rotate but still provide power to the horn switch. This contact often wears out, but it can be replaced. There are lots of threads on this so search for some.

In my HJ the flash regulator located left of the steering wheel is removed, two wires go in and another non-toyota box makes it blink.
It also has an extra green light that blinks (dont know why; the ultimate poser app.:hhmm: )
So maybe your flash regulator is broken?

Yes, fill us in.

I am having issues with my turn signals. It works fine on the left side but the right side does not seem to work. There is the usual clicking from the relay, though not a regular rhythm and no flashing of the indicator inside. I need to check bulbs and so on but I'd like to know what the original poster found to be his problem.

I know of 3 grounds on the 60. Two are inside the dash on either side. Right above each kick panel. I think it's white with a black stripe. They are bolted to the body with a 10mm head bolt.

One in rear just behind the spare tire. Right beside the wire that goes into the lower tailgate for the license plate lights.

There are several splices in the ground system it's self.
