Here's a HX35Y Hoslet turbo I picked up to mate with an AXT manifold. I'll likely wait on an intercooler for a bit..............

looks clean

interesting outlet. what did it come off of?

is that the same as a garrett exhaust inlet?

like a axt? where did you get the axt manifold from. and old kit? or from axt?

Why wait for the intercooler?

Yikes! The holset website lists the HX35 for 5.0L to 6.5L engines...

If that's what it's rated for that's not a good match at all. The "rule of thumb" is a 2.2 to 2.5 gasser turbo is about right for the 3B.

...what they said.

The HX35Y is the turbo off the early 90's 5.9 cummins. There were two models... the HX and the HY... one was for the auto, the other for the manual. I've never known which was for which.

At any rate, that turbo is way large for the 3B. It's exactly the turbo I was looking for for my turblown 1HZ project. I figured the 4.0L with the blower could probably turn the big holset to make some boost, although it was most definately going to be an experiment!

Connect the AC to the air filter hose.... Just an idear, who knows may help keep her nice an cool.

It's not like the turbo is going to hurt his engine, he'll just have bad turbo-lag as the exhaust gases try to spool up that monster impeller.

No, it won't hurt his engine any but he won't see alot of benefit either!

if any at all, he is going to have to rev the nuts off it. We all know how 3B's like that!

The y is for automatic and the x is for 5 speed the HX35Y and HY35 turbos are off of the 2001-2004 cummins truck. This turbo is a very nice option for the 3B since a popular mod for cummins trucks is to put on a bigger turbo you can usually get a good deal. I am located in Calgary if anyone is interested in this turbo feel free to pm me and ill take you for a spin.
Cheers

Are you running this exact turbo on your BJ42 with the 3B engine?

I am running a HY35 on my 3B right now and i love it
Ill be by tomorrow crushers so book me in tomorrow evening
Cheers

shall do, looking forward to it. i have to turbo the PZ and if this is working so well on the 3.4 then the 3.5 should be the ticket...
cheers

well tell me how she runs Wayne, Although it isn't on my to do list before winter a turbo setup, sounds like a good idea for next spring, and I wanna buy a turbo soon!

this turbo has the 9cm exhaust housing not the 12cm. It's really similar to Napoleon's. It should rock.

BrownBear,
AXT is the manifold from an AXT kit.
The exhaust flange sure does look like a Garrret. It looks really similar to the AXT flange. I'll be surprised if they are different.

unfortunately I didn't get that great a deal on it. The only plus is that it's almost brand new.
Diesel Dude, How much hp do you estimate you are generating with your Hx35?
