With my HY35 you mean which is a 9cm housing. Anyway I figure about 130hp cause I checked it with my Gforce meter and I says 100hp at the wheels and usually the drivetrain loses 30percent so that works out to 130hp.

Ya that is for sure the 9cm housing you can tell because it only has one port where it bolts on to the enginewhere as all the others have 2. Mine is the one that doesnt have the computer controlled waste gate, I can see that yours does that shouldnt be a problem though, the one thing that might be tricky unless you intercool it is the pressurized air exiting out the same side that the unpressurezed air goes in. The turbo is in very nice shape you should be able to get it to work I think youll be happy with the results.

I have a 5.9L Cummins in my motor coach (1995) and the turbo is a banks replacement and it is huge, I can tell you that in my cummins manuals for that year the 5.9L came in 160hp, 200hp, and 230hp. So I think the 9cm probably came off the smaller one. The banks kit adds another 70hp brining it up to 300hp, my air filter is about the size of a 3B

I would like to use an electronic waste gaste controller......ie a boost controller. I haven't looked into it though. I planned to intercool with a supra IC. I've got a couple kicking around.

well tell me how she runs Wayne, Although it isn't on my to do list before winter a turbo setup, sounds like a good idea for next spring, and I wanna buy a turbo soon!
sorry for being late on replying.
Yes DD came over and we wnet for aoubt a 30 min boot around town and on the highway.
up to about 8 lbs it feels just like any other turbo 13BT but once you hit 9 lbs that turbo comes alive. it really pulls strong. i would not say there is any turbo lag at all but rather it feels like a "power band" after 9 lbs to 15 lbs. the turbo sure looks HUGE but once again the results were surprising...
congrates DD.
cheers

Wanye / DD,
When you guys went for a test what was peak boost?
Was that set with a manual boost controller?
I've heard the 3B shouldn't have much more than 8 or 9lbs of boost. It's encouraging that DD is running up to 15lbs according to the post of your test drive.
Did EGT readings change as boost changed?
I'm just wondering as I have a similar turbo that I'm waitiing to arrive. I'm gathering information for this upcoming project. In the meantime I'll clean up my manifold and give it a ceramic coating.

The reason why I have questions about boost is b/c I've raised the boost on my toyota supra and used an electronic valve controller to change boost; it operates on vacuum but I'm not sure if the 3B will be the same.

Redline in fourth is 16psi but anyother gear it hits 14psi and somtimes 15 but that is only under certain conditions. I am not sure if the waste gate is opening or if the 3B cant push anymore air. The egts will hit 1100 on a very long steep hill in fourth but that is very rare usually just highway cruisin hita about 1000 and on the flat runs at about 850-900.

while i was driving it the egts were excellent but then i never climbed any hills...

Here is a previous post with my Boost and performance from one of my 70's running AXT turbo:
