Yeah I did. Not sure what lift. Some cheap spacer lift to level it out.
 
21 1/4" USDS, 21 1/2" USPS. Early 2008 stock 'Tundra Grade' (read: non-TRD) 5.7 DCSB, parked on a very slight downhill.

Can you get a measurement from the center of the wheel to the top of the fender? Thanks.
 
News? This thread already helped me with the pedal (the new one *is* a lot smoother, thank you wrench) and I am hoping to learn more about suspension issues.
 
Yesterday I had Firstone put two new tires but thats the last set the are putting on for free. Took it to the dealer today since I could still feel the vibration and they couldn't feel it. I know its not huge but they say the front is tight. I don't know what to do at this point. I know the tires are going to begin to chop again.
 
Just to verify, when you say they are cupping, what do you mean? I'm assuming that they are wearing excessively on the outside edge of the tire?
Any pics? I'd like to compare it to what is happening to mine. I don't want to buy new tires if thief odds going to continue after an alignment.
Also, does out matter if I get an alignment
with the old tires on? again, I'd rather know the problem is fixed before damaging new tires.

These tires have about 4k on them. I've had multiple alignments. You can see the shadow where its raised.

I have a slight vibration whcih gets worse as the tires wear. I took it to the dealer last nigth and the didn't feel the vibration. I know its slight but I drive it all the time and know what it drove like new.
 
According to the chart, the toe in is off or bushings in the suspension are worn.

Or some other charts mention the wheel bearing.

I'll say it again, buy a descent lift kit and all your problems will go away. :)
Even just with the crappy stock tires, I think the lift kit makes the truck look better

I've seen the printouts and the toe is good. It would be strange for both tires to have bad bushings.
 
Yeah we might be looking at a Tahoe for the wife that will pull double duty as a tow rig for a little while.
 
Ideally I'd like to get my truck fixed but I might go back to my chebby roots
 
My first car was a Chevy. I've owned it for 19 years. Some day I'll get it back on the road.
 
Have you had the tires road forced balanced?

One thing with new trucks is they use softer coils, passenger tires, and low tire pressure in order to get a good ride quality. Might be why with the lift the problem went away, increasing the spring rate a little. Also try running the tires higher than spec. Most Tacoma's are 28 psi. If you run them at that pressure the outsides of the tires wear off in no time. My fathers Sierra was the same way, lower tire pressures and had horrible wear.
 
I will admit Toyota's quality has gone done in the last few years but they are still a very good vehicle.
I personally don't think having a few issues like brakes, bushings and wheel bearings are a big deal, it does suck and is not what us die hard Toyota owners are use to. There minor things that a lot of the other manufacturers are having problems with too(read the other forums on each make). And I learned years ago don't have the dealers ships fix any problems unless it major. And also if a part fails early find an aftermarket upgrade, because all Toyota does is put back the same OEM part that's going to fail again.
Toyota has cheapened out on there parts, but it also seems the have cheapened out on there mechanics too, I usually know more and have a better understanding of whats wrong and how to fix it then they do. :rolleyes:
We don't bring our old FJ's to the dealer to fix them, we do research and learn to fix them our self, new vehicles should not be any different.

But if you really are thinking of selling it, you better do it soon before the gas prices get too high, then no one want it.

I really don't want to get rid of it I just want it fixed. Road force might not be a bad idea. I'm going to run the stock pressure as I'm dealing with another dealer trying to get it fixed. I was running higher pressure with the last set and it didn't help. I would do a lift if I was sure it would take care of the issue.
