Very cool. Not that it would suit me, but still a clean custom job.

The front clip is actually kinda cool.

The rear tail lights are nice too.

Why all that work on the exterior then left a completely stock interior? Looks very odd.

I was thinking the same thing. There are definitely some improvements that could be made in the interior if you're going to put that much work into the outside...

I thought that thing looked pretty cool myself. And for those of you who were saying it should have a diesel.....did you read through the options list att he end of the auction? You can get a Duramax diesel installed for *only* a cool $20k.....on top of the winning auction price. WOW.

Oh, and did anyone else go to their website and see the 6x6 lexus LX-470???? Like a regular 470 but with an extra rear axle and a little pickup bed. Again, pretty crazy, but I'm diggin it. Just not the price!

"Salvaged Vehicle" in 2001, Recon Title issued.

Okay, now Nancy knows "why".

Does not have the two tone leather... hmm... Does not have lockers...hmm... Has 40th badge? Does that happen?

I think what you guys are missing is the background story on Alan. The way i understand it this is his hobby... side work... He does this for fun out of his home garage from what I've been told, fronting all the cash to build these rigs to challenge himself and the design....

He was the 1st one that i knew of that has done a D max in an 80... Also built that lex on Portal tec's... He has pushed our platform waaaay beyond what most of us have done...

It's kinda like NASA, you may think space exploration is dumb, but without it we wouldn't have most of the cool things we take for granted today.

And trust me someone will buy this, maybe not in this country but I can totally see this thing in the desert.

I'm not downing his skills. The lines are bad a$$. Just not my style. I wish i had mad skills like that. Thats alot of time and imagination going into a project like that. Creative skills. It would be cherry to see a Toyota theme built rig that you could use on and off the road built from scratch. I'm pretty sure thats coming his way sometime soon! Aloha

I actually like it. Not like someone who is going to buy that will actually wheel it anyway. If I happened to own it I would. If I had that much money to waste I would throw in a DMax as well the ARB's but I DON'T so I don't have to worry about it. :D

Hope to see it join the club some day down the road.

Hmm, ready for both expeditions and for up-armoring. Those kinds of expeditions Uncle Sam usually covers the transport...:ban:

Maybe this could provide the cover needed to finally hunt down Osama?

Rear bumper with winch is flipping awesome. I hope they make those and sell them because I want one.

Wonder why it has a class 5 hitch and can "tow anything" when the stock drive train is built for 5K max towing and a class 3 hitch???

x2 on the leather, it looks more like he just took a 40th badge and put it on the center console. A 40th would have the auto climate control as well and have the "auto" button for it, but can see any pics of the center console.

Say what? I don't remember this vehicle. Do you have any more info? Are you sure you're not confusing the 100 series body on a 2500 Chevy truck chassis with a Dmax in it?

While I don't necessarily agree with every conversion that Alan Podvin creates, the fact of the matter remains that along with Jonathan Ward of TLC, Alan Podvin probably creates the most unique and awesome Cruiser creations out there--comparable to some of the stuff Christo and his team have created.

I'd say that Alan stays truer to Toyota OEM as opposed to Ward's creations which generally have only the "image" of Toyota in mind.

If I had cash, I would definitely commission Alan to create my ultimate cruiser.

I agree with previous posters, the front looks pretty good but the back doesn't do much for me. The main thing is the way it is attached, or not attached from the way it looks. There appears to be a large open cavity between the 80 rear quarter and the Tundra quarter that was attached, just sort of stuck on, kinda strange if you ask me and also a potential rust trap.
Anyway, good work and very interesting but I too would prefer a nice stock 80.
