I have read a few threads here on Mud about running the late model Tundra alternator on our 80s. Does anyone still make the bracket and sell the correct plug for the modification? I DMed one on the people from one of the threads I read but have yet to hear anything back from him, believe his name was/is Brian.

Since my alternator is suspect, needle bounces at idle with my signals on and the PWR/ECT light blinks as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

@Photoman is Bill. Got my bracket and plug adapter from him. Great guy. And I used an '06 Sequoia alternator FWIW.

Thank you. How long ago did you get your bracket and plug adapter?

Thank you sir. I am reading over it again and emailed him. Hopefully, he is still making the brackets, see the pigtail that he made to make converting back to stock easier.

Got it last year. Had a hang up but should be installing it in the next couple weeks.

Well, let me know how it goes. I sent him an email and hopefully, I hear back soon.

Did you ever hear back from this guy? I am looking to do the same thing right now.

Yes, I did hear from him. The parts at the time were a little pricey for me. I do still plan on doing this mod at one point.

I did this on my rig this fall - super quick delivery and it worked perfectly ! Well worth the reasonable cost and effort.

From around 2000 to 2006 Toyota had some issues with sequoia, land cruiser, and tundra alternator regulators. I think the voltage regulator intermittently goes bad and overcharges the battery and kills the battery. I've never been able to duplicate the problem. I know if I just replace the battery, it will come back in a few weeks with a bad battery. If I dont replace the alternator with a new OEM one, it will come back with a bad battery too in a few weeks because reman alternators still usually have the old regulators. Sometimes even reman OEM alternators will do it.
