Finally got my pins out to replace my bushings on the tire carrier. I had to cut the welds out, pry it open and drive the pins out.

I'm getting everything cleaned up now and ready to reinstall and paint but wasn't sure how to repair the latch. Mine is pretty wonkey. I didn't know if it has bushings and don't know how to remove the pin or replace it. Both look like they're riveted on and the one that the spring latches on looks like it's getting ready to go as the riveted portion is inside the latch.

grind the rivet off - replace with SS nut/bolt with new bushings.

I wouldn't mess with the big pin that has the spring hold - looks pretty good to me

pick whatever you can find imo. I like the self lubricating bronze ones from Mcmastercarr but you could probably get away with nylon or brass. Get a caliper and measure what you need - order them and you're all set!

I spoke to a local machine shop. They told me no problem to duplicate the pins. I haven't done it yet as the tire carrier is way done the list of "TO DOs". You first........

I went to Home Depot and found some 1/4" spacers and ground them down to fit. Seems to work pretty well but the bronze one's you mentioned would probably be better.
