This thread has got me thinking it’s time to install a military ammo can in the back with a combination lock. No need to carry keys that way, simple and cheap.

Something like this, yep.

i'm gonna have to re-read your post on how they got in to you 'cruiser...but man...you left your wallet AND a gun in there?

fek, our gun laws here in Oz mean that we can carry a gun/guns to and from the rifle range (ie somewhere to shoot our guns) and nowhere else...but FFS i never leave my wallet in the car....

as i said i'm gonna have to re-read this one....

EDIT: naaa.....come on....you left your wallet and a hand gun in the car whilst playing golf....

i dont buy it. So, someone stole your gun and your wallet and shot xxxxxxxx whilst you were playing golf....

How did you pay for your round of golf? Given you would have had to pay before teeing off? Surely you'd notice the lack of wallet then? No ?

This thread is great, but it needs to be deleted. Fabulous tech and learning how to break into a 100 within seconds and emptying it out within minutes and never making a sound other than opening the doors

Instead of a noisey alarm, why don't you get an in-car security box or safe. Especially if you are going to leave a wallet, computer, phone or weapon in there. Not saying they ain't defeatable, but it sure makes it much much tougher and time consuming which means they will move on to another car.

I got a box where I put my briefcase with iPad and computer when I am in the pub or mall or something. I put my Glock in their when traveling with it. It is often more secure, and cheaper than many alarms. I hate aftermarket alarms with OEM imobilizers. They seem to give me problems after a couple years.

Great idea! What brand and how/where did you mount?

fine, but i want to know why someone would leave their wallet and a hand gun in a car (Landcruiser/Lexus) in the first place.

I do it all the time when I go wakeboarding or I have a fat roll of $100's :grinpimp: and don't want to feel like I'm sitting on a small brick on one cheek.

hehe..wel exactly...and yes the "how to" break in post needs to go....

but sorry, i think that the OP knew what he/she was doing and to complain about a drug deal gone wrong on here where they have had their transport of choice broken into and a wallet and hand gun stolen....'

fek, REALLY ?? i'd think your Police force would be the no1 contact before ih8mud.

unless there's some pimp my ride-athon happening for so called Gang-StARS with LandCruisARS.

EDIT: whilst i was trying to be "funny" above, i now actually formally request that you involve the Police force. I dont want to be involved or associated with someone that thinks its ok to lose their wallet and handgun via a thiefs break in to their car and then post the info online??

Ok, OK, I'll kill the pics and description.

However, THEY already know what to do and don't need this forum to teach them how. The OWNER'S are the one's who don't know about this.

Unlike the extreme liberalism that has ruined OZ, we don't have to be quite as much of a nanny-state here in the US. We are still allowed our freedoms as long as they don't encroach on another's rights. Luckily, nobody has the Constitutional Right to go through life unoffended, so I don't give a rat's azz if someone is offended by my firearm. THEY must deal with it themselves and CANNOT trample on my rights as a citizen to keep and bear arms as I see fit.

now, back on topic.

even tho your quote of quotes didnt work (and i quoted that)

you assume that i am a Liberalist, flower power, free the terrorists...blah blah blah.

Far from it. I want this country (Oz) to be more like the USA. Not necessarily with regards to citizens bearing arms in the constitution, but the i went thru the gun amnesty we had a few years ago and one of uncles, my fave uncle, had sh!tloads of guns that were declared illegal ...and he handed them all in and there was one he was worried about.

He was worried that if he didnt watch it get crushed that it could be sold on if there was any Police corruption.

We still talk about that gun.

I learnt to fire a gun through him....several guns...these days no one knows how to fire them safely, as it's not part of life.

So to try and come back to your question about gun freedom, you're talking to the wrong person...as i agree with you.
I want to be able to buy rifles and hand guns. My question still remains - why was his wallet and hand gun in his car?

Point taken on the liberalism. Your post just crossed me as being very anit-gun for some reason.

I imagine the OP is like me and others. He probably keeps a handgun in his vehicle at times for travel and personal safety.

When you golf, you typically do not need a gun on the course (sarcasm), but you may have had it in the vehicle due to travelling through bad areas, or just because you believe in protecting yourself.

When I play golf, I don't like a fat-ass wallet in my pocket, so I either take out cash/card needed and leave the rest behind in the truck or I take it with me and put it in my golf bag.

fair enough.
i'll let it go, but seriously..the pain of having to cancel your credit cards and such should your wallet get stolen is always a deterrent for you NOT to leave it in you car.

And added to that youve got a gun in there too??? Here, the gun would have to be in a "gun safe" of some sort....i'd need to look that up, but still FFS....there is no f'ing way any sane person would leave there wallet and a hand gun in a car be it at a golf course or at the supermarket.
sorry.

i'll have to let it go.

EDIT: i put my wallet in my golf bag...it's never been ever in my back pocket or otherwise EDIT2: whilst playing golf that is!
EDT3: yeah ok...i had a think...so given that a gun is normal for people that need to have them. But, hmm...i dunno the wallet AND the gun...we'll have to agree to disagree there.

Are you 100% sure that the alarm didn't go off? (as if anyone actually pays attention to that). They could have just lifted the rod that opens the door, and been off with your wallet, gun, and phone before the third horn blast sounded...

EXACTLY THIS.

The cops were the first call I made. I started this thread later in the day after getting more and more pissed about it. Also, I live in a mid size town with very little crime, especially at my fairly expensive country club...never really worried about theft until now.

There is a brand new gun in my car, but from now on if I'm not carrying, it and anything else if value will be locked in the drawer system.

thanks for the clarification. I know we live in totally different "worlds" with regard to gun control which i hopefully explained my view above. As to where to safely store ones gun(s) whilst playing golf or <insert other pastime here> yeah that's always an issue.
thanks for the info
cheers

You are saying that if you unlock the doors by hand the alarm goes off every time.

If so I would say your's is acting up or has been set up differently. There probably are "third world" settings for the security system.

Unfortunately places like Phoenix, Las Vegas and Southern California now need those settings. Pretty soon we'll need high walls with glass on top and gates.

Very weird. Yes, my alarm goes off when I unlock with the keys every time. Do all UZJ100s of all years not do this? I wonder if I have some custom settings, as the alarm is stock. Makes me wonder if this is a way to change this or flash the alarm?

The microswitch(es) is(are) not on your lock cylinder(s) -- or that circuit of your ECU/harness is bad.

I doubt the latter as I think both doors do it, but I'm going to check tonight. What do the switches look like on the cylinders? Are they in a position to possibly disable them, either by physically altering them or cutting the wire so the circuit never closes (or opens)?
