Has any body had their 100 series actually stolen from them? My question would be how did they do it and how much damage there was to repair, did you get back and etc?
Wow that was real eyeopener indeed. I never ever leave a wallet or gun locked vehicle it is always with me small fanny packs work great with small guns, unless the 4 legged security guard is with me. That looks like close to 1000 dollars IMO. i will be doing a walk around every-time I get in.

The gun, phone, and money (so far) totals up to about $1500. No idea what the damage to the truck is, goes into the shop Monday.

99.99% of the time my .380 is in my back pocket, and wallet/phone as well. The golf course is one of the few places I don't carry this stuff...I will from now on.

Don't suppose you have the mobileme subscription for your iphone, which (if the thief was dumb enough to leave it on) can locate it? Other than that, I'm not sure where the area was, but most LE agencies don't have time to investigate individual auto break-ins. Talk to some store owners or local residents and find out if you are one of a series of break-ins. Lastly, and least likely, check for any nearby buildings that may possess surveillance footage. Sometimes the criminal is dumb enough to drive off in a car with plates, that can id him/her. In the off chance you id the criminal, don't confront them, call police.

If your insurance covers it all, then just forget it. These are just the thoughts of a criminal investigator, who would want to get his s*** back. Sorry to hear your story.

Yeah, I have MobileMe, but guy had cut it off by the time I checked it.

I have checked surveillance at my country club, and at the places he used my cards. Saw the dude, but every time his head was down or covered. Not his first rodeo.

Homeowners insurance covers the contents, but my deductible is way more than the losses. Looks like I'll just be fixing the door and forgetting about the rest.

Man I feel your pain. My old 5 series wagon got broken into about a year ago. The idiot broke the window and got blood all over the car. Sounds great except they almost totaled the car cause it fried most of the electronics when it got into the door (and it was an old BMW that was almost worthless).

Best security system though was the baseball bat I was carrying when a bunch of hispanic thugs were jumping on the running boards of the hundy as I walked back from the cages. Oh and my buddies with their bats as well.

Agreed. So now what? Start shopping for alarms?

Two ways to go about it, IMO...either install something in the door that will block access to the lock mechanism from the door handle, or get a loud ass alarm, lower your comprehensive deductible and hope for the best.

Me personally, I will probably opt for the latter. It seems like it would be easy enough to install some sort of steel plate behind the door handle to block access...but I look at it from the bad guy's perspective; he's a pro, he's been doing this a while, and he's expecting the technique to work one way or another - so how much EXTRA damage will he do if he's trying to access the lock from behind the door handle but it's not working, yet he continues to pry from different angles thinking that he will eventually get in? The whole door could get mucked up, then he gives up on the lock, smashes out the window in frustration, and steals your sh*t anyway. When they want in, they will get in.

Most important thing is to keep your valubles on your person, or lock it up in your house. Don't give the bastards anything to take.

Agreed here.

I have had things stolen so many times: my car:bang:, stuff in my car:bang:, in the house:bang::bang:, and at church:bang::bang::bang::bang:.... Now my perspective is that everything but my family is replaceable, including the Cruisers. As much as it pains me to think about losing anything, it is all replaceable.

I hope you are able to replace your valuables....

That's what I think. Any recomendations on brands or types? Are these things simple to install?

I have to park at the airport sometimes. I see a lot nicer trucks than mine down there, never really see an issue but it worries me each time I travel. I usually try to find a nicer truck than mine to park next to.. though sometimes it's all I can do to find a spot.

BTW, ntsaint, sorry man this happened but thanks for posting up! Sure got a lot of us thinking!

An alarm isn't going to do crap if you leave something in your truck, especially if it's in plain sight. Career thieves and meth heads do not care. There are several other vehicles that have door handles and locks like the 100, where the whole thing is an assembly that pops into the door metal. If someone wants in, they'll get in. And if you leave something attractive enough, they'll just pop the glass.

The truck is factory equipped with a security immobilizer, they're not going to get the whole truck unless you leave a key in it.

And for hell's sake - do not leave guns in a car.

IMHO, always put a club on your rig...plus a brake club. And, to add to this, don't mess around hiding things when you park....if the bad guys are watching you, they know you're hiding your stuff.

If they intend to steal your ride, they'll pass when they see a club on the wheel & another on the brake....I've never seen it happen when both are in place. And, for a 3rd method of protection, get a kill switch.

Again, I'm sorry these idiots were successful.

It won't help you from getting your stuff stolen but this seems like a good option. Even if they get your key they cant start it.

And for ****'s sake - do not leave guns in a car.

99.9% of the time, this applies for me. But i don't carry at Church, on the golf course, or in govt buildings. So the gun gets left in my console. No way to avoid it.

This guy just got me at the right time.

Maybe consider upgrading your console to a locking type? Or installing a safe that will take just long enough to break into that they won't want to risk getting caught? Or don't post on the internet where you stash your firearm when you're not concealing on your person, and where those places are?

Just things to think about.

^^^ Earlier is was 99.99% what happened since then?

Hence the current drawer build with locking drawers...

I don't recall ever reading about a 100 getting stolen despite the immobilizer feature. Do you?

^^^ I've never read about one, but it's only a matter of time before there's an app for that. Thieves are getting more and more high tech every day. I like that the Ravelco is completely non computerized. The only possible way for a thief to steal a car with one would be to tow it.
