Pancreatitis?

Yeah, I don't remember exactly what he told me about it (this was 25 yrs. ago)
except I was told that most likely the huge amount of fat he had consumed had basically shut down his pancreas and he had gone into shock.

Just about lost my best buddy.

Wayne,
Sorry to hear about your dog. Let's hope you get some good news from the vet.

Does your vet think that the tumor (if there is one) is necessarily fatal? Some years ago, my malamute was found to have a golf-ball-sized tumor on her bladder. Through a sonogram it was shown to be in a spot that was operable, so we had it removed. They had to take about 1/2 of her bladder. It was expensive and painful for us to put her through, but she healed up fine and we got several more quality years with her company. I was glad that we had the operation done, because she was really a much-loved member of the family.

I hope you get good news from the vet.
Todd Bull.

thanks everyone for the words of encouragement.
the vertic is in and Bill has a tumor that has colasped one lung and has affected both the chest region and the spleen area.
he is home now for a few days then we will say good bye.
...

Sorry, crusher....I know that is hard news to here.

You still have a little time..(LOVE HIM UP)!

Ah Sh!t.

take care of him dude.

Wayne,

Sorry to hear the unfortunate news. It sounds like your dogs have been blessed by having such an honest and caring owner looking out for THEIR best interests.

I still can't wait to have a dog of my own to share both the good times and the bad...

Regards,
Steve

Ah, crap. As a fellow dog owner and having met Bill, I just wanted to tell you and Berni how sorry we are. I'm going to tell my wife when she gets home and I'm sure it will also break her heart. Take care, buddy. Like TJDIV, I was also holding my breath for a happy ending.

With out a doubt the toughest trip to the vet is the last one. Cherish the next few days - not everyone gets that much time, and it is true - all dogs go to heaven. Be strong, that's what Bill would want you to do. Sorry bro...

Harry

DAMN, that is sad. I'm so sorry to hear that Wayne. Enjoy the time you have left with him.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

I would have a hard time believing anyone in the Veterinary field would be in it for the money. Granted there are some not as sharp as others, but I couldn't spend the time they do in school and being bitten or scratched they way they are to make decent money AFTER school loans are paid off. I think it's more of a comfort/familiarity thingy then anything else.

I disagree completely. I have been to plenty of vets who don't give a s*** about animals.

At the last vets office, all 5 of the vets are driving 50,000+ cars and living very large. The recommend ALL SORTS of extra stuff??? Hugely profitable, some of these outfits.

We have since changed vets. The new one drives a Toyota 4x4 and doesn't recommend expensive and unneeded tests. I invited him wheeling too:)

Make every minute count. He was lucky to have you and vice versa.

Lord Byron
Newstead Abbey, November 30, 1808.

Near this spot Are deposited the Remains of one Who possessed Beauty without Vanity,
Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity, And all the Virtues of Man without his Vices.

This Praise, which would be unmeaning Flattery If inscribed over human ashes,
Is but a just tribute to the Memory of BOATSWAIN, a DOG Who was born at Newfoundland, May, 1803, And died at Newstead, Nov 18th, 1808.

When some proud son of man returns to earth, Unknown to glory, but upheld by birth,
The sculptor's art exhausts the pomp of woe, And storied urns record who rest below:
When all is done, upon the tomb is seen, Not what he was, but what he should have been:

But the poor dog, in life the firmest friend, The first to welcome, foremost to defend,
Whose honest heart is still his master's own, Who labours, fights, lives, breathes for him alone,
Unhonour'd falls, unnoticed all his worth, Denied in heaven the soul he held on earth:

While man, vain insect! hopes to be forgiven, And claims himself a sole exclusive heaven.

Oh man! thou feeble tenant of an hour, Debased by slavery, or corrupt by power,
Who knows thee well must quit thee with disgust, Degraded mass of animated dust!

Thy love is lust, thy friendship all a cheat, Thy smiles hypocrisy, thy words deceit!
By nature vile, ennobled but by name, Each kindred brute might bid thee blush for shame.

Ye! who perchance behold this simple urn, Pass on --- it honours none you wish to mourn:
To mark a FRIEND'S remains these stones arise;

I never knew but one, --- and here he lies.

Two centuries ago Lord Byron wrote for every dog lover.

Sorry thing to hear of Wayne.
