Has anyone tried out these tires?

I've read a bit on the net, and they seem to get good reviews. And for the "initial" price they seem like a good deal, set of 4 about $ 400.0. The shippping to interior B.C. about doubles the price -$800.0 , I'm just concerned about the duty etc. Has anyone brought these tires across the 49th?

Thanks,
Joel.

I have a buddy with a whorerunner whos going to be buying some really quick. Though hes going to bellingham to get them.
Everythings cheaper in sam land.

Good question, I went to their web site looks good however read their warranty seems like you have no warranty and it appears to be a hassle to make a claim.
Keep us posted, I am interested to see how they work out.

"Made in USA" should mean duty free, but GST will have to be paid. And there will be fees to have people fill out the paperwork.

I wanted to bring a set to Winnipeg last summer, but the shipping killed the dream. And Wpg is close to their plant. At the time, their only delivery option to Canada was UPS. Cha ching.

I found a sale at BC-based tiretrends.com, spent an extra $100, and got 5 new Firestones delivered to my door.

There used be a local Vancouver tire re treader called Alpi's retreads. The tread pattern was very similar to a Hanook Z36. I had quite a few costumers with these tires and the tread wear was good but they had a real problem with tire separation and blow outs. They use old tires and laminated new rubber on them and then cut new treads. If the old used tire downers were in good shape, the the tire should be fine. It's kinda like a lottery you never know and For $800 plus a bit you can get a good deal on non remanfactured tires.

Take care and good luck

The "made in the USA" should put it under NAFTA, AFAIK. There's a border services # you can call, where they will be able to tell where the product you have falls into, and what fees to expect. I'm going to give them a shout on tues and see what I'm up against.

Thanks
Joel.

Just curious, but how does that work if you drive down across the border for a "vacation" and just happen to have "different" tires on the vehicle when you return?

Well I double checked with border sevices and there is no duty on "made in the USA" stuff, but pst (7%)will be required to be paid, as well as brokerage fees. The real killer here is the shipping, which is understandable. Though shipping to Montana USA ( directly south of me) isn't really that much cheaper.

Long story short for me Treadwright offers $ 200.0 tires (each), and shopping around produced $260.0-300.0 (each) for MUdterrain/MTR/pro-comp etc. Basically I would be saving 1/3 by going with Treadwright, which is still a "re-tread", their warreny does sound a little vauge and done in house, and I can only guess who would have to foot the shipping $$$.

I'm saving my pennies. and so far have sold myself on the few $'s more for the name brand tires.

Every year around September to October pro-comp tires do a buy three and get one free deal. The extreme mud terrain tires are really nice on and off road with decent tread wear. I have sold lots of their all terrain and extreme all terrain but do not care for them that much. If you can wait for the sale I think the extreme muds are the way to go for cost efficiency.

Take care

I guess I should of checked my E-mail before I replied last, but I got a reply from Treadwright, it goes as follows-

Thanks for you inquiry. I did a quick check on FedEx International ground shipping. I have copied the estimate below. The cost of the tires would be $426.80 plus the shipping charges. I do not know if this includes GST. I also did a price to Eureka, MT. It would be $22.48 USD per tire to ship them there. I don't know if that would work for you to pick them up or have someone else pick them up. You would then be responsible for the import and GST fees. Let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks, Blue

There was a chart with the shipping charges broken down, it came to $448.65 USD which included customs B.S. but not PST. Though picking them up in Eureka would save a bundle.

It's nice to see a company try to save a customer a few $, but I guess the shipping is usually the deal breaker.

"Pradocruzer" I saw that add on Craigslist last fall from a shop somewhere down in the Slocan area (I think). I shot them a E-mail but never was answered back, I was a bit sceptical thinking that they over charge on the 3 to make up for the 4th. Thanks though, I've got some time before $ appears in my tree, so that might be a option.

Thanks,
Joel

I purchased a set of TreadWright tires for my FJ40 - and they are SWWEEEEEEETTTTT!!!

Amazing quality on the retreading - you really have to study them to know they are retreaded.

The people there at TreadWright are simply awesome!! They are quick to answer any questions- and they'll educate you about the process the tires go thru . . . . they're not hack-jobs, and I'll definately buy ALL of my tires from them for all of my vehicles.

You can't go wrong with them!! Enjoy!!

This is the route I'll be taking next time. Ship to Danville, Wa. and held for pickup. CBSA should only require GST/PST. Should cut my tire cost by 1/2 - 2/3. Thanks for the heads up.
