I have a LJ70 with a 2LT engine and would like to know if it is even possible to run 35 inch tires plus other equipment or would the engine struggle too much? If not what kind of upgrades would I have to do to get enough power out of it to be comfortable with such big tires.

I run 33's and find the performance of the 2LT acceptable.

Not sure on 35's but if you are not towing or loading up the car, guessing it would be ok.

Lift would be a question and width of the tires.

What kind of lift do you have to run 33's? And are they 12.5 or 10.5 inch wide tires?
33's would be fine for me too but I think the extra lift and appearance of the car is just different with 35's😁.
Did you in any way modify your engine or do you still have it stock? And a picture with the 33's you have on would be nice.

I run 35s and barely notice them. But I did intercool, run higher boost and turn up fuel a bit. Generally I think the 2LT with 4.88 diffs match 35" perfectly.

But stock engine will be slow on fast highways for example.

I have read your post about improving your engine and it was very informational. I will try to stick to it with some regulations in my country but hopefully not much difference. Plus its a 3 door so maybe a little bit less weight than yours? How much boost are you running now and is the engine and turbo doing fine? And I think mine doesnt have an EGR so that is a plus. Here are some pictures of it while it is stock but not for much longer hopefully😁

I ran 35’s on my LJ70 and also ran 35’s on my LJ78 (until the engine got cooked) performance on the LJ70 was fine, the 4.88 diff ratios are a fairly low so work well with 33’s / 35’s

Performance wasn’t quite as good with the LJ78 but it has automatic transmission. Now have 1KZT fitted and again performance is pretty good

Running 255/85/16 OR 33 x 10 x 16

Hi, Im running 35x12,5 tires on my LJ73. My 73 is my summer "fun" car so the fact that its a bit slow doesnt bother me at all. Its not exactly a race car with smaller tires either. My experience is that it sometimes can be a bit pita to get up to 3rd gear from second gear in steep hills, but since Im not in a rush its ok.
My 73 has 2" body-lift and 2" OME springs, no rubbing at all with 10x15 ET-44 rims and BF Mud 12,5x35 tires.
