Got a 91 FJ80 with the A440 transmission. After some hard driving in the snow a couple weeks ago, it’s started slipping when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear. What do you guys think? Worn clutch? I already tried changing the fluid, no effect.

Are you saying that during the 2-3 shift the tach jumps a couple hundred rpm’s for a short moment?

Yes

Refer to the section of the FSM for instructions on adjusting the throttle valve cable that leads to the transmission. Yours is most likely out of adjustment which is causing the “flare” between shifts.

Hmm, ok, I’ll look into that. Hope it’s that simple

Well thanks baldilocks, that did it! Cable was really loose

Hey bro, you should have .5 - 1.5mm between the red boot and the metal bead on the cable @ closed throttle FWIW.
