I don't know what specific symptoms this would cause (possibly excess vibration/ NVH), but when I went to install my trail tailor creeper skid, I learned that my transmission mount had come apart. The center rubber section was originally bonded to the lower plate that bolts to the crossmember, but it was completely separated. I probably wouldn't have noticed unless I was removing the cross
member. It is easily masked by gravity.

Mine is in rough shape but not that bad. I bought one from Rock Auto and it is offset where the OEM one is symmetric. The new is offset in a fore-aft direction, maybe about a half inch. Has anybody ran across this?
DEA / MARMON RIDE CONTROL A6298 is the part that doesn't fit.
I guess this is more of a warning to avoid the aftermarket parts. I should have just ordered the 12371-66030

Send it back and get one from Toyota.

you might also want to get new bolts for the cross member and mount if their crusty and rusty, i broke off a cross member bolt in teh frame rail and had to drill it out. glad i replaced all of them, there were starting to get pretty skinny from all the rust and didnt look like they were long for this world

I just replaced my trans isolator 3 weeks ago and it yielded many improvements: Ride quality, Rough Starts, Idle Vibrations, Engine Noise, Cat clearance off of my rock slider guard (vibration), cornering has improved, I don't feel excessively tippy and unstable when I hit bumps (I already had new springs and shock). Ill be doing the engine mounts soon. My trans isolator was in way better condition than yours, my 80 does have 357,000 miles.
